Ying Keung David So

October 12, 2022

Son of So Chi Kau and Tam Lai Ching, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday afternoon, October 12, 2022. Ying Keung is survived by his beloved wife Sui Lin So (née Leung) of 49 years, Chun Yin Joey So (son), Chun Ho Huffman So (son), Chun Kit Jackie So (son), Monica So (daughter-in-law), Vannak Him (daughter-in-law), Matisse Jie Lai So (grandson) and Remy Jing Lai So (grandson).  He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and extensive family in Hong Kong and China.

Ying Keung immigrated to Canada in 1979 with his wife and three sons, settling in London, Ontario where he spent the remainder of his life.  He was a tool and mold maker by profession and enjoyed the past 12 years in retirement.

Always ready with loud boisterous laughter and goodwill, Ying Keung’s favourite moments included time spent with friends over coffee, cards and mah jong.  A long member of London’s Cantonese community, he was well known and prided himself as a friend to all.

An avid gardener, Ying Keung spent many hours and seasons growing Chinese melons to share amongst friends and family.

A devoted husband, he and his wife Sui Lin did everything together and happily experienced the pleasures of daily life shopping for Chinese groceries, working around the house or going for walks at the mall.

Ying Keung’s greatest joy was seeing his sons into adulthood and watching his grandsons grow up.  As a devoted grandfather, he embraced this role and spoiled his grandsons with great enthusiasm.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery.
