William Sheeler

August 19, 2019

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bill Sheeler, on Monday, August 19th, 2019, at the age of 89. Bill passed away peacefully. Cherished and loving father to Fred (Patti), Nina (Hubert), Greg (Holly), Geoff (Cathy), Brian (Chantel), Anita (Chris) and Moira (Jeff). Papa/Grandpa to 17 grandchildren and Great-Papa/Grandpa to five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Nina and Bruce Sheeler, and by his brother, Lyle and sister-in-law, Marg. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews. Friend to many, Bill was known for his generosity to others, as well as his many acts of kindness. Bill was born in West Lorne on February 12, 1930, and moved to London in September, 1965. He was a school teacher and vice principal in many surrounding high schools and retired from the school board in 1988 after 35 years. Bill was known as a favourite amongst students and even recently, students would come up to him and thank him for being a great teacher and mentor to them. Bill loved Jesus Christ and accepted Christ when he was 14 years old. He had always been involved in church life, serving in churches as a superintendent of Sunday school, a deacon and elder. In his spare time, he was a lay preacher. He also enjoyed visiting with people, writing cards of encouragement, talking, laughing and spending time with his family. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Grand Wood Park and Kensington Village for their loving care and compassion shown to Bill. A visitation will be held on Thursday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. A funeral service will be conducted at WESTPARK CHURCH, 955 Gainsborough Road, London, on Friday, August 23rd, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bill are asked to consider WestPark Church.

Condolences to the whole Sheeler family. Sending my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Mr. Sheeler was a large influence on my late husband getting him into local and not so local history. After my husband passed Bill would occasionally send me little notes saying "Thinking of You" with words of incouragement, these little notes were such a welcome surprise. just so thoughtful. Mr Sheeler would often be a speaker in our church, next door to the Baptist Church. We always looked forward to these Sundays. He was a much loved and respected teacher to myself and my late husband Ron.
