William ‘Bill’ Alexander

January 27, 2018

June 5, 1922 – January 27, 2018

At University Hospital, London, at the age of 95. William was born of Scottish Presbyterian parents near Seaforth, Ontario. Beloved husband of the late Mildred Alexander (January 10, 2018) and survived by daughter, Barbara; son-in-law, John; grandsons, Michael and Paul; granddaughter-in-law, Charlie and great-granddaughter, Nyota-Rose. He was predeceased by four sisters: Isabelle, Mary, Margaret and Jessie, and four brothers: John, Bob, Craig, and Douglas. Bill is survived by one brother, Stuart, and in-laws, Wilmer and Anne. Bill’s numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends remember him as a thoughtful and kind person with a cheery disposition. He was ordained as an Elder in Knox Presbyterian Church, Georgetown; St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Brampton; and Westmount Presbyterian Church, in London. Bill was esteemed for his volunteerism wherever he went. In Brampton, he was president of the Horticultural Society. In London, he assisted with the logistics of a new addition to the Westmount Presbyterian Church. He was a steward of God’s green earth, and planted many trees in both Brampton and London. For that reason, a memorial tree will be planted in London. Bill was a devoted husband to Mildred, his wife of 68 years, and was devastated by her death on January 10, 2018. Perhaps that is why he succumbed to pneumonia only 17 days later. You may pay your respects at WESTMOUNT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 521 Village Green Avenue, London on Thursday, February 1st, 2018, where visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bill are asked to consider Alzheimer’s Research, Canada.

Sending sincere condolences. Bill and Mildred were very special friends. We chatted for hours, laughing about the many good memories of days gone by. Drove them every Sunday to church and then went fine dining at Macdonald's.
