Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, November 9th, 2016, Wayne Franklin Cousins passed away at 77 years of age. Loving husband of 57 years to Joan (nèe Wilbur). Dear father of Stuart and his wife Dayna Lozowchuk of Saskatoon, SK, Steve of Garibaldi Highlands, BC, and Barry and Susan of London. Beloved grandfather of Leena and Jackson. Dear brother of Gary (Ray Crosby), Dale (Marilyn Carter), and Marilyn (Rick Spicer). Predeceased by brother Robert and daughter-in-law Sawako. Wayne worked as a chemist for Polysar-Bayer for 44 years — 29 at Sarnia and 15 in Akron, Ohio. He was a rubber specialist and helped customers improve the quality of everything from car parts to shoes to sports equipment. Wayne played and coached hockey and baseball. He umpired baseball and refereed lacrosse. He was public address announcer and a tireless worker on the executive of the Point Edward Pacers Junior B Lacrosse Team. He was known as the Voice of the Pacers as they won four Canadian Championships in seven years. Wayne loved his golf and joined Hickory Ridge when he retired to London in 2001. He also took up curling with his lifelong buddy Dick Todd. The family wishes to thank Wayne’s many doctors, nurses, the London Regional Cancer Clinic, and C.C.A.C. Special thanks to C.C.A.C. nurse ‘Eva’ and also to the loving care shown by the staff of the Victoria Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Cremation has taken place. A service will be held for Wayne at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, November 13th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior.
