Victoria Stirling
March 28, 2022
With a heavy heart and great sadness, Victoria Stirling, 88, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022 at LHSC – Victoria Hospital. Born in Newbury, England. Beloved wife to Harvey for 63 years. Loving mother to Anne and Andrew, nurturing grandmother to Richard; sister to Barbra, Joanie and John; and an aunt to many. Mum’s life is most remembered in her start with the British WRNS – Woman’s Royal Navy Service. There she met a dashingly handsome young sailor, Harvey Stirling, who she married and had two children, Anne and Andrew. Victoria raised their children in Dundee, Malta and London, England before emigrating to London, Ontario in 1966, where at the airport mum and dad were asked “where are you staying.” Their reply was “we were hoping you could tell us.” With that, the adventure in Canada began. Mum went back to school for her nursing, which she retired from, then published two books on her nursing career. Mum became a reflexologist and had many senior clients who appreciated her thoughtful and tender care. Mum also became a Lay Preacher at Mount Zion United Church, where she was an active member of the community. Many people will remember her from her many letters to the editor in the London Free Press, where people would call her if no letters had been published in a timely fashion. Wherever mum is we hope it’s joining her husband Harvey, daughter Anne, her parents Mavis and William and other family that have gone before. Memorial Service will be conducted at Mount Zion United Church, 471 Ridgewood Crescent, London on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Victoria are asked to consider ReForest London or a charity of their choice.

Dear Andrew and family So many memories of us as kids and our parents navigating their new lives in Canada together, while hanging on to the memories of "home". Of course navy talk might also have been an active topic! It is difficult to think of all of them gone now but I bet there is some serious laffs being had somewhere. Your Mom was such an inspiration. Her compassion had no bounds. She will have heaven all organized in no time. May your cherished memories bring you comfort.
Dear Harvey and family. So sorry to hear of the passing of Vicky. Always engaging and ready for a good conversation and so concerned about her community. I remember many of her letters to the editor in the London Free Press and also have read her books on nursing. Many memories of her days at Wesley Knox with Harvey. Prayers and sympathy to you all.🙏
