CLARK, Vernon – Vernon Clark (formerly of Sarnia and Owen Sound) passed away peacefully on Monday August 23, 2010 at LHSC, surrounded by his family in his 86th year. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1924. Vernon was predeceased by his wife Effie (2000) and leaves his daughters Barbara Tiernay and her husband Martin of Toronto, and Janis Drake of London. He will be missed by his three grandchildren Chris Rowles (Joanne), Neal Drake and Stephanie Drake. He is survived by his brother John and his wife Betty in Scarborough. He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews in various locations around the world. His beloved Coco will miss him terribly. He was predeceased by his parents Percy and Violet Clark, as well as his brothers and sisters Percy and Emma (in infancy), Andrew, May, Violet, Jane, Bob, Syd, Gwen, and Tessa. In his career as a Quantity Surveyor, he was instrumental in the cost development of the Commissioners Road Campus of LHSC in the 1970’s. He oversaw the construction of the Grey Bruce Regional Centre in Owen Sound, the addition to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Sarnia as well as the Tourism Bureau. He was a longtime volunteer with his local historical societies. A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank Dad’s neighbours in Sarnia, the wonderful staff and friends at Glendale Crossing as well as the Cardiac Care Unit.
