Vera Bentley
August 5, 2023
Surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 5, 2023, Vera has reunited with her loving husband Arthur (2008). She lived a life filled with family, accomplishment, adventure, challenge and hardship. Her path began during the great depression and continued during the war in London, England. Vera journeyed to Canada, built a life with Arthur, raised a family, worked for others while raising her family, and then developed a multi-part antique business – which she continued to her last days in London, Ontario.
Vera always put family and friends at the center of her life. She will be missed by all. She is survived by her children Chris (Wendy), Jane (Dave), Gregory and Craig, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Roy, sisters Jeanne and Ann, and their families in England. Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Funeral service to be conducted at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 21557 Richmond Street, Arva on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at St. John’s Arva Cemetery. I did not know Vera at all, but felt like I had through Sarah. We volunteer together with the animal rescue. Vera supported us and from what I have heard of her, her love for her family and animals knew no bounds. I am incredibly sorry for the loss of Vera to her family and friends.
Sincere condolences to all that knew and loved Vera. I never had opportunity to meet her in person, but we shared a mutual friend and exchanged some written communications. Vera was a kind supporter of my animal sanctuary and her loving, generous spirit was undeniable. It sounds like she had a very positive impact on the people and world around her. May she rest in peace.
I feel very fortunate to have known Vera. She always seemed to have a real joy for life and an amazing amount of energy. Vera was a very kind and generous person. Right up to her final days she was raising money to support animal shelters and to help the homeless. Vera set a great example for all of us, and she will be sorely missed. I send my sincere condolences to Vera’s family and her many friends.

I remember Vera for her inspirational approach to life and admired her involvement with family, which was a great source of happiness for her. No doubt, Chris Jane, Greg , Craig and the grandchildren will have to deal with a significant loss and in doing so I offer them my sincere condolences
My deepest condolences to the Bentley Family. My heart is broken. Vera was an inspiration to me from the minute I met her when she moved into our McGarrell neighborhood. She was such a loving, caring, and fun person to be around. Her energy was unbelievable. Her family and her extended family were everything to her, and, of course, her beloved animals. Even when she moved to the apartment, we continued to pick her up and bring her to our "coffee days", which we had been having for years. Vera always had great stories to share and she kept us laughing. She will be greatly missed. R.I.P. Vera. Love! Lynda
Sleep tight Auntie Vera, We all have such wonderful memories of your and Uncle Arthur’s visits. With love from Carole, James, Daisy, Charlie and Harry xxx

We're proud to have known Vera from across the pond here in England. On her many visits, she always lit up the room and captivated us all with her stories. Her efforts to support many different animal charities no doubt touched many little lives. She will be sorely missed.
Our condolences to your family. May the memories of your mom always bring warm thoughts to you all.

In a world of complacency or worse, animals need all the friends they can get, and Vera was certainly one of their best. She understood and loved them and will be very much missed. All of us here at PETA send her loved ones our wishes for only happy memories and strength in light of her loss. With condolences, Ingrid Newkirk, founder, PETA
