Trisha Doan

February 11, 2017

We are broken-hearted to share the passing of our beloved Trisha on Saturday, February 11th, 2017, in Surfers Paradise, Australia. To all who knew her, she lived life passionately and with her heart on her sleeve. We were all blessed to have had her bright light in our lives. Trish always stood up for what she believed in and she wasn’t afraid to tell the truth. She was a passionate musician, a talented photographer, and a renowned techie whose ability to solve Dad’s computer issues will be sorely missed. Trish was chasing a dream of settling in sunny Australia. Through this dream, she experienced the highest highs but also many struggles. Now Australia, and our family will never be the same. Her parents, June and Jim, sister, Riley (Jeff), brother, Andrew (Amy), and nephew, Milo, will be strong, and we ask that you are too, because that’s what Trish would want. Trisha will also be deeply missed by her grandmother, Teresa, her extended family, and her many friends. Please reach out and give your loved ones a big hug. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24th, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Trisha are asked to consider the Mood Disorder Society of Canada (memo: London Defeat Depression).

I'm so sorry for your loss, dear June and Jim. I am often comforted by this wonderful poem by Henry Van Dyke THERE IS NO DEATH by Henry Van Dyke I am standing on the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails billowing to the morning breeze and disembarks for the vast blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch her until at length she is a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!" Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and she is just as able to bear her load of living weight to her destined harbor. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, There! She's gone! there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!" And that, my friends, that is dying.

What a beautiful service dear June and Jim. Although I had never met Trisha, you June with your poignant words about the love you and Jim and your whole family shared with Trisha and she with you, brought her spirit to life. What an inspiration to hear of such love. Sending you and your family and Trisha's many friends positive loving energy and comfort at this time and in the days to come. Positively, Pauline

Sincere condolences to her parents and her siblings who loved Trish very much. Trish was my pal ever since we played soccer and hockey together. We shared many laughs and talked A LOT about music and our family. Nothing was more important to Trish than her family. I remember going with her and June to visit her Grandma in her retirement home just to stop in and say hello. Trish loved her family very deeply. I remember going to her first shows and listening to her play bass in the loft. Over the years our lives got busier and we didn't see each other much, but we were both huge ICQ and internet nerds that we managed to keep in touch and check in on each other. She would tell me about her struggles and was always very honest. She told me all about Riley's trip and how proud she was to be an Aunt and how much she loved her nephew.

Dear June, Jim and family, It is with heavy hearts that we write upon hearing the news of Trish's passing. June, I recall talking at the time of your trip to Tanzania, about how adventurous your kids are and how Trish was in Australia, and I could see where they got this spirit. The pride in your voice as you talked about Trish, Riley and Andrew made me smile. You know we lost our Madison in November 2016 and so have some sense of the pain and the magnitude of your loss. You are loved and your family is surrounded by a loving, supportive community. Laura and I are thinking about you and sending energy of strength and courage. We find comfort in these words adapted from Helen Keller: Who we once enjoyed and deeply loved We can never lose for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us
