Todd Richard Graham

December 11, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Todd Richard Graham announces his passing on Monday, December 11, 2023 in his 64th year at Kingston General Hospital.

Together for over 40 years, beloved husband of Jayne; proud and loving “Paj” of Emily and Amanda, as well as his Golden Rescue, Mitts. Treasured brother of Troy Marshall (David) and dear uncle of John, Nicholas and Kathleen (Tom). Much loved by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins of the Steel and Graham families. Todd is predeceased by his father, Thomas Graham (2009) and mother, Kathleen (2013).

A “Bluenoser” at heart, Todd was born and raised in Halifax until the family moved to London in 1972 upon his dad’s retirement from the Navy.  Todd made fast friends and loved to recount many stories of his glory days at CCH with great buddies and football. Football continued in university with the Western Mustangs and Todd was proud to show off his 1979 Yates Cup ring. Todd was well known amongst the patrons of the infamous “Ceeps” as a bouncer. It was also where he met his wife, Jayne. Their first date was football themed, happening on Grey Cup Sunday in 1983. They would become engaged in the stands of the 1988 Grey Cup in Ottawa, and married a year later in London.

Todd’s greatest pride was his two beautiful daughters, Emily and Amanda. He would talk about them and their accomplishments to anyone who would listen. He bonded with the girls over his love of music, sports, history, and politics. An animal lover, Todd often joked about needing more testosterone in the house and that’s where golden retrievers Foster, Watson and now Mitts came to join the household.

Lieutenant Graham was a 1st Hussar for over 40 years and a stalwart member of the Association and Museum Committee. He was looking forward to the regiment’s trip to Holland, Belgium and France in April.

Todd was well respected during his long career with General Motors and General Dynamics, which provided him with many opportunities to travel the world; to Belgium, Singapore, Washington DC, and Dubai, to name a few.

Upon retirement, Todd and Jayne moved to the Thousand Islands and spent many hours on the water enjoying their boat, the Ship of Fools, and welcoming aboard numerous visitors. They truly loved the retirement life, and being on their own schedules. Todd served proudly as an OPP Auxiliary officer, both on the road and with the marine unit. He also enjoyed participating in role plays with the School of Military Intelligence at CFB Kingston.

Todd believed giving back to your community was your duty as a good citizen and volunteered his time and efforts to many organizations over the years, such as Knights of Columbus. Todd was a principled man with a deep-seated commitment to fairness and navigated life with professionalism, honesty, integrity, and respect. He will also be remembered for his humour and quick wit.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Parish, 511 Cheapside Street, London on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.   To view the livestream of the Mass, please click here:

It seems like only yesterday that Todd and I were allowed to turn Grannie's kitchen table into a fort. She had such a lot of patience for her grandchildren and I think about those times around her kitchen and the flat on Almon Street often. To all my cousins, this is a sad day for us but I look forward to better.

Dear Jayne, Emily and Amanda, it has been years since I saw Todd, but as everyone here has attested to - he was kind, caring, fun, friendly, sincere, thoughtful... I could go on. He was a dear friend to my late husband, Tony Lombardi. They had so many adventures in high school - some of them not to be retold! - but I know their friendship was true. I recall Todd reaching out when Tony was ill and that was so in keeping with his character. I know your loss is great - but his legacy of love and devotion to family will, I hope, bring you comfort. I believe that Tony was waiting for him with a laugh and a gag and a few football tales too. For our family, December 11th has always been known as "Dove Day", and I hope your family can see the significance of having your own Dove Day on the 11th. It won't change things, but I hope it gives you some peace now and always, and that your cherished memories hold you close to him always. Sincerely, Joanne
