Tina Marie Thomas-Bratscher
August 11, 2012
January 5, 1967 – August 11, 2012
It is with overwhelming sadness, Tina’s family announces her passing on Saturday, August 11th, 2012 at the age of 45 after a 3 ½ year battle with ovarian cancer. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends at her residence. She will be missed by her soul mate and husband of 17 years, Michael and her two loving children, Noah and Tara. She was the cherished daughter of Tom and Rita Thomas of Wallaceburg and daughter-in-law of Johann and Jessie Bratscher of London. She will be sadly missed by her sister and best friend, Angie MacDonald, her husband, Eric, and nephews Aiden, Holden and Ewan, as well as by her sister-in-law, Margaret DeSousa and her husband, Dennis. Tina grew up in Wallaceburg, studied journalism at Carleton University and proudly worked for 9 ½ years at London Life Insurance Company. She believed in and was dedicated to the Run for Ovarian Cancer, supporting ovarian cancer research. Many family and friends supported Tina during her life, and especially during her battle with cancer. This “village” gave her strength, hope, love and support beyond compare. She was grateful to have such amazing people in her life. Friends are invited to visit on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where Tina’s funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 15th, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. with refreshments and companionship after the service. Cremation will follow and interment at Woodland Cemetery will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Tina asks for donations to the London Health Sciences Foundation – Translational Ovarian Cancer Research Group.

I have fond memories of working with Tina during my time at London Life, and am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She was a true joy to work with. I send my deepest sympathy, and will hold you all in my prayers and intentions.
My sincere sympathy to Michael and the children. As a scientist in the Translational Ovarian Cancer Research Program I had numerous opportunities to interact and work with Tina and always came away energized and motivated to make a difference in the lives of ovarian cancer patients. Tina was a huge supporter of the Run for Ovarian Cancer and our research group. I will always remember Tina as a fighter and compassionate woman. We will miss her greatly and she will not be forgotten.

Our entire team is saddened by Tina's passing. Her talent as a writer and communicator was surpassed only be her gifts of humanity. Her tenacity and grit were unmatched only by her optimism and warmth. Nothing could make your day better than having Tina flash her world-class smile your way. She lit up a room like no other and while we will miss her physical presence we are certain the generosity and warmth of her spirit will continue to light up our room for years to come. Michael, Tara, Noah and the rest of Tina's family, we are sorry for your loss. Knowing how much we will miss her as her friends and co-workers, we can't fathom the depth of her loss for you.
I remember babysitting Tina and her sister Angie when they were young. I had so much fun with them. I've thought about Tina often in the last few years . They made my life better even at such a young life. Rest in God's love Tina.
Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. She fought a long battle and will be sadly missed.
As a former co-worker of Tina, I was blessed to have known her for a few years. Her personality and amazing spirit touched everyone she came into contact with. It was a pleasure working with London Life Team Tina on the Run for Ovarian Cancer video, and I am extremely happy that her family now has that memory to cherish. She will truly be missed, but will thankfully live on through her family, and all those around the world who are better people for having Tina in their lives.

My heart will be with you, though I am unable to be there in person.
