Timothy William Edgar

December 9, 2016

EDGAR, Timothy William

July 24, 1960 – December 9, 2016

Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Tim was the son of William and the late Shirley, and step-son of Karl Winter and Elsie Edgar. Loving father of Wade and Rachel. Dearly remembered by his sister Vicki (Peter) as well as Olivia and Diane. A brilliant tax law professor, Tim will be busy drafting new tax legislation in the afterworld. The memorial service will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, December 17th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Tim are asked to consider ‘High Performance for Juniors’ at Tennis Canada.

Love you forever

Bill and family: Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We take comfort in knowing he is in a better place - with God and without pain. We have no doubt he is doing his "tax thing" when not playing tennis and golf. All our love.

~ Dave & Berta Merchant

Tim not only helped guide me into tax when I was a student, but also assisted me when I tried to be a faux professor and provided feedback when I wanted to play academic commentator. He was impossibly smart and a great teacher, and I tried to emulate him (without coming close). RIP.

~ Mike Dolson

Elsie and Bill: We are thinking of you and offer our condolences. Tim's suffering is over and those of us who were fortunate to have known Tim will carry on with fond memories and respect. Best wishes to you and your family.

~ Judy and Bruce Shelswell

Although away from Southern Ontario many years ago, after joining the military, I gaze at the face of Tim and I see my father, and then I see my family, and then I even see myself. I see my Uncle Johnny, and I see my Aunt Edith, and I see my cousins Billy and Allan, and I see the farm near Alliston. These are the most precious of memories and Tim evokes this. His credentials in life speak for themselves. No need to expand on what he achieved. Billy would tell me how proud he was of Tim. It was a funny situation because here we were, the Edgar Clan.......Billy, my cousin, 10 years older than me, and Tim, his son, 10 years younger than me. I speak of the family and that's only to salute Tim, as he was taken prematurely from all of us, and all that to say, that his life will be so fondly remembered.

~ Dan Edgar

Dear Bill, Elsie and family: We are so very sorry to hear the news about Tim. Taken too soon. Our thoughts are with you at this very sad time. Michael, Dianne, Matthew & Megan McCabe

What a huge loss. Tim was easily one of the brightest people I have met, let alone had the privilege to be taught by. How do you make Tax Law class interesting? Put a guy at the front of the room who is brilliant, passionate, energetic, and relatable! By the end of a Corp Tax class, Tim's trademark Tshirt or polo would be soaked with sweat and coated in chalk. We'll miss ya Tim! James Deep UWO Class of 92

~ James Deep

Bill & Elsie Our deepest sympathies go out to you and your family in the loss of dear Tim. May God give you the comfort and peace that you seek and may the soul of your loved one rest in peace.

~ Carol, Len, Lynn & Lori

Words cannot describe how sorry I am of hearing of Tim's passing. I was fortunate to be around him when he was growing up in Alliston and watching what a great person he was and how talented he was in baseball. So many memories with him and his family, all due to growing up in a small community. I was fortunate to meet up again with him a few years back for a reunion, and he was still the same person. I feel fortunate to be a small part of his youth, and express my deepest sympathy to Bill, Elsie and Vicki. Tim will be remembered and missed.

~ John Friesen

Bill , Elsie , Vicki and family.... Our deepest sympathies to you all in such a sad and tragic loss. Brenda did get to teach Tim at Banting and he was always one of those great people from our small community. How sad! Our sincere condolences to you all.

~ Klaas & Brenda Dekker

I am so sad to hear about the loss of Professor Edgar. His fascinating lectures on tax policy were the best classes I ever attended. He was a very kind person and offered me much appreciated help and support when I started off my career in tax. My deepest sympathies to his family.
