Susan Eileen Haggis

June 8, 2023

Susan Eileen Haggis was born May 10, 1952, to predeceased parents Frances and Syd Rimbault in London, Ontario. She passed peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at LHSC – Victoria Hospital, at the age of 71.

Sue’s childhood and early adulthood was filled with loving support of siblings Ellen, Carol and Steve. Susan met the love of her life, Ted, in 1970 and her steady commitment to family remained her focus as Scott (Alana), Amanda (Dave), and Alicia joined her life.

Susan created a career in teaching high school business, english, marketing, co-op, and yes – even math – in which her love for education influenced many of her students. We know the great friendships she developed with her fellow teachers was a source of joy for her.

Her devotion to God and her faith in His path for her carried her through great burdens, as well as joy, as her family expanded. Her profound love for grandchildren Aliya (Christian), Rachel, Tyler, Olivia and Cieara was her passionate focus during her remaining days.

Susan is celebrated today and always, as a testament of endurance, inspiration and love: wife, mother, nanny, sister, in-law and friend. May God’s grace shine upon her now.

A memorial service will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior.

I know we will meet again one day, but for now, I wish we could’ve had just one more walk together in Springbank park. My condolences to Ted and family. May Susan’s memory forever be a blessing🙏

I'll always remember my first sighting of Susan. We lived in the same apartment building, on the same floor on Commissioners Rd W in Byron. She used to walk her sweet elderly dog, for long periods of time, always in a sundress in good weather. They both looked like they'd stepped out of a painting. I used to love watching them from my balcony. I'm going to miss that picture. Safe journey Susan. Hugs, Karen

Ted, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Susan was a wonderful person and I was lucky to have worked with her for so many years. I hope that in time, the happy memories you have of her will replace the sadness you now feel.

Susan and Ted were our next door neighbours when we bought our semi on Rosamond Crescent back in 1980. Susan and I hit it off right away and we kept in touch off and on over the years. She was a very kind lady who lived her faith and loved her family deeply. We had a great visit last June and I will miss her very much. To Ted, Scott, Amanda, Alicia and family we offer our deepest sympathy for the loss such a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Bruce and Patty Miller

So shocked to learn that Sue had passed from this world into her eternal home. She was a lovely woman full of joy and kindness. She and Ted were very special to us, and we have many fond memories. So sorry for the big hole her absence will leave in the lives of all who love her.

Sad news for you. Never met Susan, but I knew she was well loved by Ted & the rest of her family. Peace be with you…..cousin . 💙💙

Dear Ted, Scott, Amanda, and Alicia, Alana, Dave and grandchildren. I worked with Susan at St Joseph’s Hospital before either of us returned to school as adults. We were busy Moms with children we adored and we shared stories and our faith as well as a job that helped us buy extras for our families. Susan was passionate about teaching and I became a nurse. In those earlier days, Sue was always generous in sharing hand-me-downs for my girls as they were a little younger than both Alicia and Amanda. She was a remarkable woman who always saw the best in others, and who loved you all fiercely. I was privileged to have known her. We moved to BC about 20 years ago, or I would be at the memorial for her to remind each of you just how much she loved you all and how proud she was of you. She is still proud and still loves you. I know that you feel that, and will continue to feel her love as long as you stay on this planet.

Sincere condolences to Susan's family and friends. I had the privilege of teaching with Susan at Laurier, and unfortunately lost touch with her after she retired. I'll always remember Susan's hair brushing ritual, her loving hugs, and her passion for teaching those hard to reach students. Sending healing and prayers.
