Sunila Ashok Kuchinad passed away peacefully at University Hospital on December 12th, 2023 at 79 years of age in London, Ontario after complications from a brain aneurysm. Dearest Sunila Mami, Describing your love for us and talking about you in past tense is something I am yet to come terms to, because the spark you lit in my heart is going to forever be kindled to. Your belief in me and unconditional love when I was at my lowest was everything to me. I will miss you so so much and I love you. Thank you for being such an inspiration

You will be missed dear

Dear Sunila, It has never been truer than to say that you touched the lives of so many people, it’s hard to count! You gave your all for Ashok, Raoul and Anil first and foremost. Later on taking care of Ashok during his illness until the end of his life. That will hold your sons in good stead. Then you extended it to help everyone who came into your life, friends and strangers alike. You embraced them and went out of your way to help others! I will never forget how you made contact with me after I moved to Canada after we lost touch when you moved here in 1973. You excelled at your work as a social worker with the children at CAS. There must be scores of children, who are now adults, who remember the wonderful work you put in to make their lives better. You were a gift that kept giving! As colleague teachers in Mumbai, I will always remember our fun days along with other teachers! You are now in the loving arms of Ashok, your mother and sister, and I’m sure that you have attained Sadgati. Rest in peace dear Sunila and although you are not with us anymore, you will never be forgotten. Love Nandini

I did not have a chance to visit with you today at the funeral service Anil, but was touched by the number of people that were present, and the many fine tributes to your mother. I remember her well. Not only was she a neighbor, but I remember her from, our days at Huron Heights, Public school. Your tribute, as well as Raul‘s was very meaningful and poignant. Everyone touched on the many fine qualities of your mother. Clearly she will be missed by so many and especially by her family. We are at number 19 and if you ever feel so inclined, drop by for a coffee and some Reminiscing. I would love to see you. Mary Panopoulos, your mother’s neighbour was with. She also shares your loss.

Dearest Suneela aunty, THANK YOU for all that you have done for my parents in London, Ontario. I have treasured our conversations on topics I would usually not broach with most other Indian aunties, nor even my own mother, such as social work community controversies in caring for foster children, particularly new immigrant and indigenous girls in foster care, and racism in general in the local community. You are by far the most honest, straight-talking, strong Indian aunty I have had the pleasure of knowing. I appreciated your ability to 'say it like it is' and speak your truth come what may. WELL DONE! May you now rest in peace knowing you have made a meaningful difference in so many lives in your local community: I count myself as one of those lives moved by your strength of character and thoughtful truth-speaking presence. In gratitude, with much love and hugs always, Rashmi (and RoRo) Bhat

It's so sad our Sunila is not in our midst. I took a flight on Dec. 12th to SF, California, and Sunila took flight to Vaikunta, to Vishnu's abode. So very sad l am, that when l go back to London, my friend won't be there to welcome back. Such a vibrant, caring, compassionate, funny, humorous, outspoken, outgoing and always helping others, sweet, always smiling, ever ready to help anyone in need, loving, wonderful lady. I'm so proud to say, she was my best friend. Gem of a person. Even my daughter Rashmi has so many good memories with discussions with Sunila about foster parenting and social services. Well, Sunila has left so many beautiful memories in the last 25+ years of friendship with us. We have to be content with that. Om Shanti Sadgati Sunila. Let your sweet soul rest in peace.💐🙏😪❤️

Sunila was one of a kind, full of cheer and laughter and brought happiness to everyone around her by her sheer presence. It was a delight to be in her company and we were blessed to spend time with her in July 2023 in California. There were numerous family gatherings and weddings of Raul & Anil when we enjoyed her hospitality and caring nature. Sunila enjoyed reading and listening to music. I always shared my whistling renditions with her and she loved them always. Sunila was very much attached to Ashok and took great care of him. Life was never the same after Ashok's sad demise and Sunila would mention him innumerable times. Sunila's passing is a great loss to the family and she will be missed at every family gathering in future. Our heartfelt condolences to Raul, Anil & family. Om Shanti!
