Signe Maria Crawford
February 5, 2017
Peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, on Sunday, February 5th, 2017, Signe Maria Crawford of London, and recently of Schomberg in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late John Campbell Crawford (2010). Dear mother of Douglas (Dorota), and grandmother of Alexander, Anna and Svea. Signe was born in Prince George, BC, and grew up near Fort St. John, BC, where she met her future husband, John. Signe and John then lived at many locations across Canada while John served in the Air Force and Signe worked in various banks. Signe retired in 1962 to be a full time mother and homemaker, and they eventually settled in London, near the Crawford family homestead. “She was an incredibly friendly and popular person, a second mother to many young friends, and able to make and keep friends wherever she went.” The funeral service will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, February 10th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Canon Dr. Kevin George officiating. Interment in Ivan Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.

Aunt Signe, I knew you all my life. You and Uncle John were my second parents. Holidays were always so special when we were all together. I will remember, most of all, the laughter you brought and all the stories you shared. We will surely miss you. Our deepest sympathy goes out to those you loved and who loved you.
Alexander (grandson), Bruno (step-grandson) and I (former daughter in law) send our heart felt sentiments. Grandma C was often like a mother to me and a beloved grandmother to both Bruno and Alex. Grandma C will be remembered with fondness, forever. Rest in Peace Grandma C. 😢😢😢

Sandy and I offer our sincere condolences. As you are aware Douglas, your mother and father were a much loved part of my family, as far back as I can remember. My parents, Vernon and Isabel, introduced them to each other while stationed at an RCAF base in northern British Columbia. So began their long and happy life together. We will value our fond memories forever.
