Sidney “Ross” Millar

December 4, 2024

Ross Millar with his wife and some family by his side, passed peacefully at University Hospital in London, Ontario on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in his 93rd year of life.

Beloved husband of Beverly Millar (née Pinnock) for 71 years.  Loving father of Jim (Bridget), Jeff (Sharon), Norm (Cindy), Nancy Whalley (David), and Judy McKerlie (Brian, deceased). Much loved grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 34 great- grandchildren.  Predeceased by his parents Rev. James N. and Jessie Millar (née McCallum), brother Elmore (Nora), sisters Margaret Hunt (Blake) and Jessie, and great-grandson, Matthew Millar.

Ross was a follower of Jesus Christ, since his early years, and so we mourn his passing, but have great hope for he is alive and with his Saviour and family who have gone before him.  Ross was a long-term, charter member of Glen Cairn Baptist Church (now Compass Community Church) in London, being very involved in many crucial roles over his decades in service, and a current member of Redemption Bible Chapel.

Ross began his career at Supertest Petroleum Limited, then moved to D.H. Howden (Pro Hardware stores) in various executive roles, finishing as Vice- President Administration and Secretary.  He was also the first President of Computer Horizons Canada Limited, a company started by D. H. Howden, to provide computerized warehousing options across Canada.  He also provided valuable consultation to The Hunt Club in London and Fair Havens Conference Centre near Beaverton, Ontario in his retirement.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London.  A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at Redemption Bible Chapel, 250 Commissioners Road East. London on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow immediately. For those unable to attend the service a livestream is available. It is with sadness that we heard of Ross’s passing and wish to express our condolences to Bev and family. We have fond memories of the many occasions where we worked alongside Ross in our associations at Glen Cairn Church. We benefited from his leadership over many years and his faithfulness to all of us

Carol and I extend our condolences to all the Millar family on hearing of Ross's passing. There on people in your life that have profound impacts and Ross was one of those humans to me. His trusted guidance and understanding has given me the solid base upon which I advanced in life. Ross was one of those people who I would not see for extended periods of time only to come upon each other and it would be as though no time had passed at all. He was a gift to all that knew him. Rest in peace dear friend...

My condolences to the Ross Millar family on hearing of his recent passing. Ross was a man of his faith and will be greatly missed. As a former employee in Sales & Marketing, I have fond memories of Ross when he joined D.H. Howden (Pro Hardware) as he was of superb help to me in the 1960's when we were computerized in the hardware industry. When Ross was President of Computer Horizons, Canada Ltd., we often had dinner at various locations in Canada; Ross was a forerunner in this computer industry. To Ross, his faith was paramount and this always showed to be his strength in multiple ways. He will be sadly missed. Frank Foran
