Rufus Earl Toman

February 24, 2012

Peacefully and with dignity, at Parkwood Hospital on Friday, February 24th, 2012 with his family by his side, Rufus “Earl” Toman of London in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Jean (Denstedt) Toman for 59 years. Loving father of John Toman and Mary (Peter) Downs. Cherished grandfather of Matt and Emily. Dear brother of Elaine Bundscho, Marlene (Jack) Hube and Bob (Verlie) Toman. Brother-in-law of Joan Toman and Bruce (Marion) Denstedt. Step-brother of Yvonne (Dave) Humphreys, Charles (Jean) Mohr and Michael Mohr. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Weston and James. Earl loved his family and cherished his time spent with them; family was the most important thing. He retired from the Canadian National Railway in 1984 and enjoyed much of his leisure time golfing at Llyndinshire Golf and Country Club. A special thanks to St. Elizabeth Health Care, Dr. Ferguson and all the staff in Palliative Care at Victoria and Parkwood Hospitals who cared for him during his final journey. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2nd, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Siem Manna officiating. Private family interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Milverton, Ontario. My sincere sympathy to Jean, John, Mary and family for the loss of their husband/father, Earl. It is important now to remember all the good times we had with him ... I fondly recall working on our B. A.'s , those fall trips to the Bruce and the neighbourly events we shared in Sarnia. He was immensely proud of his family and their accomplishments. As a storyteller and humourist, he was without equal. Earl may have left us, but he will never be forgotten.

~ Garry McNeil
