Sending our regrets for the loss of your mother and grandmother to all of Mrs Steads family. She is the nicest person I have ever met. She put more effort into helping me live a good life than anyone I met. She showed me what Faith, love, respect really is in how she lived her life and how she treated people. Truly a Great woman.

Aunt Irene was one of the reasons I went in to nursing. I was grateful and so proud to be a St Joe's grad during St Joseph's hospital prime. I was privileged to see her at work, saw evidence of her calm cool leadership and benefited along with scores of other nurses, from her interest in how we give patient centred care efficiently. She continued to be a mentor and role model for me and we had many wonderful chats about the state of health care. She was a striking looking, elegant and caring woman who was very kind to me all my life and I will miss her always, Marilyn

~ Marilyn Ohler (nee Older)

Dear Stead Family; So sorry for your loss. Ruby will always be remembered fondly by her friends and co-workers at St. Joe's, and especially by me, who loved her butter tarts and parties at the house with her husband Jack. God bless you, Ruby Stead.

Thinking of all of you at this sad time. Mrs. Stead made 6 GYN a great place to be a patient but also a nurse. She was a wonderful leader and I had some lovely coworkers. There was always care and compassion on that busy ward.. and often some humour as well. Thank you, Mrs.Stead.

Marnie & Bob, and the Stead family So sorry for your loss. Deepest sympathies at this difficult time. Thinking of you. HUGS Joyce (Jim & Bev Arnold's daughter)

Carol, Linda, Gary & Dennis My deepest sympathy to you and your families. Your Mom was our much loved "Head Nurse" for many years at St Joes. She was the kindest, most compassionate, caring person and example to all of us. Her dedication to her staff and patients was displayed in so many ways, working several shifts without rest during the "big" snowstorm in the 70's, to making her special eggnogs for the patients who needed "just a little extra nutrition", so many special things she did, too many to mention. We occasionally got a little noisy at the desk but instead of reprimanding us we got a little shush and she made us a pot of tea...worked every time to quiet us down! My thoughts are with you all, she was a wonderful woman! Barb Parkinson Sarnia

Deepest condolences to family and friends. I have fond memories of occasional dinners and teas with Irene while I lived as her neighbour on Sunningdale Rd. She was such a wonderful neighbour.
