Ron was my first Supervisor at CN. A true professional, and a gentleman who treated everyone with respect. His legacy will live on in those of us who will continue to follow his example. As long as he continues to live in our hearts and memories, he will really never be gone.
A great friend and co-worker. It's been a pleasure to have known Ron for many years. He will be missed. Joe Jordan
ron was my husbands neighbor, friend and confidant, what a beautiful soul, he was generous, caring and always willing to listen, he and peggy were a part of our everlasting card club, were we shared everything couples do, we played together for over forty-five years, as the years passed, our conversations were more about health than weather but ron was always determined and optimistic, we loved him so, what a pleasure to have been a part of his life, our sincere sympathies to peggy and all his family, soar with the angels ron, we'll miss you
I was stunned this a.m. to read at this web site of Ron's passing . No matter how tough things got Ron was always up to the battle in life or the golf course . The word " Quit " was not in his vocabulary . I have numerous fond memories of him, Peggy and Christine at Echo Valley and Greenhills. I kpray your many great memories will help in these difficult times .

Our condolences to Peggy and all Ron's family. Ron was an original and a pleasure to work with - one of the most humble, honest, sincere, dependable, professional and genuinely nice guys that we have had the pleasue to work with. We learned a lot from Ron - he will be fonldy remembered and missed by the Cando Team. Doug Peters/Cando
I had the pleasure of working with Ron briefly in the late nineties and one of the many engineers he tried to educate. He is one of the last of the old guard who was a railroad professional and gentleman in every sense of the word. His kind are rapidly disappearing and his knowledge and experience will be sorely missed. Well done, Ron, your track is now perfect and free of defects!
You will be so missed Ron. Your knowledge, dedication and will to "do the job right ", will forever be etched in my memory. It was an honour to have known you, and very re-assuring to run on track you have inspected. I'm sure that wherever you are, the ballast will be perfect, the ties new, and the rail as true and smooth as possible. Rest in the knowledge you "did it right". Steve Bradley OBRY / Cando
Our deepest sympathy goes to Huggy's family, Rob always enjoyed playing hockey with Ron, we enjoyed seeing him at the golf course, he was a friendly and kind man! Our thoughts are with Christine and her family as well as Peggy, remember all the good times!
We will miss our great neighbor and friend. Ron always had a friendly wave over the fence, and was the first to welcome us to the neighborhood. Sincere sympathy to Peggy and family.
As fellowgolf members at Greenhills,we heard nothing but great things about Ron and his devotion to his family and his job. We know that he will be missed by all who knew him. Peggy, you and your family are in our thoughts. May happy memories warm your heart, and caring friends surround you with comfort.
Working with Ron for 11 years on the OBR Line. He would be on the job start to finish and made sure it was right. And then he would explain exactly the job in every detail, I would listen and learn from the best. And Peggy wasn't far away, in the car waiting with their dog, what a Team. Will miss seeing you all at the Crossing Projects.. But, the memories will be forever present. Job well done, Team Hugill! God Bless You Ron and take care off your family! Perry Noseworthy CANTRAX
Ron was a true friend who never had a bad word to say about anyone, always willing to lend a hand or give advice, Ron was respected by all and will be sadly missed , However will remain in our Hearts forever. Our thoughts and Prayers are with Peggy & family at this very difficult time.
Dear Peggy, My love and prayers are with you and your family. It is sad that we do not get to really know our cousins and their families as well as we do those friends that live closer to us. I regret that I only met Ron a couple of times and never knew him. As everyone who has written here thought so highly of him I know you were truly blessed with a Godly Husband. May the grace of Christ's love surround and comfort you as it does Ron. Love, Janet.

Peggy and Family, words are inadequate at these sad times but take comfort in knowing that our thoughts are with you. Ron was a good friend and teammate. Our oldtimer hockey memories will remain forever. He particularly enjoyed the trip to Snoopy in California. Ron and I first met, although we didn't know it at the time, when we were teenagers playing against each other in the Ontario juvenile baseball playoffs. He played for Clinton and I for Dresden. Ron was well respected and I was privileged to have been his friend.
