Roger James Shute
July 1, 2024
The family of Roger James Shute of London, Ontario are sad to share the news of Roger’s passing. Roger passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Village of Glendale Crossing. Roger was in his 79th year.
Roger was survived by brother Dennis Shute (Sharon); sister Sherry Shute; nieces Tracy, Michelle (William), and Bonnie; nephews Jason (Stefannie) and Daniel: and seven great-nieces and nephews Brittany, Carly, Corey, Alyshia, Amanda, Brooklynne and Haylie.
Roger was born on July 31, 1945, the second child of Gertrude (née Pohl) and Thomas Bryan Shute. Roger was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle – always there to help and support the family. Roger was trained in his calling as an automotive technician. His passion for vehicles; motorcycles, cars, trucks, and especially race cars, continued through his life. He could make any vehicle run at top performance.
Roger’s strength, determination, and grit allowed him to live his life to his fullest with spinal cerebellar ataxia.
A private visitation and cremation will take place at Westview Funeral Chapel, London. Donations can be made in memory of Roger to Ataxia Canada.
Leave a tribute for Roger James Shute

My family has lived across the street from Roger and the Chute family since 1975. My parents Zen and Donna still live on Woodbine Street. I wanted to extend our sincere condolences to the family. Roger will be remembered as a very friendly and kind neighbour. I often remember seeing him fixing his pickup truck in the driveway and hearing the rumble of the engine. Saying a prayer for Roger, a d the family as you grieve.
I had the honor of meeting Roger at Glendale Crossings. He always made me smile. He will be missed.

Roger and Bill met in high school and shared over 60 years of close friendship. Bill and Roger shared many common interests, especially vehicles, motorcycles and racing. As fans of racing, a group of 4; Roger, Lou, John, and Bill would make an annual trek to Watkins Glen to watch the Grand Prix. It is noted that the Formula 1 community is recognizing Roger by running the Great Britain Grand Prix on the day of Roger’s celebration of life! We only lived a couple blocks away so Bill and Roger often shared visits back and forth. Later in life, Bill would walk over and they would share memories of their "good ole days" and occasionally share some homemade kitchen treats. For years they shared phone calls, books and comments on each Formula 1 race. Mary's Dad also had a great respect for Roger as Dad and Mom made trips across Canada and the US. They would stop to visit in London, saying it was to see their daughter's family but somehow, Dad would always seem to fit in a visit from Roger to check the van mechanically and ensure it was fit for the rest of the trip! We will miss Roger but his friendship and fond memories will live on! Condolences go to Roger's family who will sorely miss him. Rest in peace, Roger, and many thanks for all you contributed to our lives! Bill and Mary Fitzpatrick
