Robert Eugene ‘Bob’ Bilyea

January 8, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert Eugene Bilyea announce his passing on Friday, January 8, 2021.

Beloved husband of his second wife, Beverly (Walker) Bilyea; and his first wife, the late Arlie Beatrice Jessie (née Geer) Bilyea. Dearly loved by his daughters, Lisa Wissel and Michelle Young (Brad). Much-loved and respected father-in-law to Brad Young. Cherished grandfather and hero to Mackenzie (Alison) and Connor (Cheryse) Young, and Chelsey Straub. Adoring great-grandfather to Logan Young.

Fondly remembered by his stepchildren, Penny (Brian) Stager, Angela (Paul) Duncan, Jim (Sharon) Walker, Larry (Tracy) Walker, and Robin (Tracy) Walker; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob enjoyed his role as “GG” to the grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Jean Anne (Arnie) Titus; and leaves behind his brothers, Donald (Marianne) Bilyea, Peter (Betty) Bilyea; and brother-in-law, Wayne Geer. He is fondly remembered by the extended Walker and Henderson families.

Bob was always quick to lend a hand, never turning down a request for help. He was a mentor to many young men starting out in the construction trade. He loved to spend time with his grandsons, teaching them how to build or repair things. Bob could also be found at all of the boy’s sporting activities. He was so proud of their accomplishments and loved nothing better than to be there to cheer them on. He was known as Grandpa Bob to so many young people. Dad will always be “The Greatest” to us.

A private interment will be held at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bob are asked to consider the London Health Sciences Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

What a great friend I have lost! Arlie and I were lifelong friends and I was a bridesmaid at their wedding. Bob was always smiling, always giving a hand when it was needed, and always glad to see you. I was thrilled that Bev and Bob had 17 years of happiness though I know Bev, Lisa and Michelle will miss him tremendously. Please know I share your grief.

As I walked by your door, I always enjoyed an interesting talk with Bob and a discussion of building trade scenarios, those that we knew of jointly. I enjoyed these discussions with the 1933 model and glad he had a long life. Carman, neighbour

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we are saying goodbye to a very special brother. Don and Bob were very close all these years, they were just one year and a day apart, and Bob would always kid Don that he was 2 years younger for one day. We spent many special occasions over the years with wonderful memories. Bob was a wonderful brother always ready with a smile and a joke to help others. Goodbye kind brother, you will have a special place in our hearts forever, Rest in Peace.
