Bon Voyage!
Within my floral-decked retreat
Old Friends once more come me to greet,
To reminisce about the past;
Those forty years before the mast.
We sailed around the Seven Seas
From Zanzibar to Hebrides,
But roving, now, is at an end;
In quiet ease our days we spend.
A gentle smile with pensive air
Reflects a state that has no care,
As, by my side, friends eulogize
A life now shorn of earthly ties.
Be not of downcast mien, old mates,
By what life’s end eliminates;
Just think of voyaging on a sea
That reaches to infinity!

We are so sorry for your loss Wendy, Tim, David and Nikki and families. What a fantastic 95 years Bob lived and to go quickly, even though we will all miss him, was a blessing for him. He was so proud that he had lived the longest of any in the Anderson clan. Bob and Jean hosted so many of the wonderful Anderson picnics and he did a great job of keeping the family records updated. Chester and I thought the world of him. He went out every day for an ice cream sundae. Those businesses will miss him! He was so proud of his family and kept us up to date on how they were all doing. Lovingly, Dinah Lee, Dave, Mark and Liz.
As a fellow Piper in the London City Pipes and Drums, it has been an honour and a great pleasure to have known Bob. Bob taught our daughter when she attended Western and she remembers him kindly. We send our sincere condolences to all Bob's family. Dan and Joanne Robilliard
My sympathy to Bob's family. I first met Bob when I was Band Liaison Officer. He was a valued member of the London Police Pipes and Drums. In more recent years I enjoyed his company at the Royal London Military Institute and at Vimy Ridge Legion gatherings. He was always friendly and a gentleman. He will be missed. Sincerely, George Brunton
We are so sorry to hear of the passing. Ted, Laura and I have fond memories of him, as a jovial personality down the street from us. Being neighbours for many years on Plantation Road, Our dad, Roy Connors, also sends his condolences.
I met Bob for the first time in the mid-1940s at the home of my grandmother Margaret MacKenzie (nee Lock) on Ontario Street in London, where I also lived with my parents. He was a student at the time, and my grandmother told me that he was very intelligent. (Margaret had been very close to Nora, Bob's aunt, who was the daughter of Mary, Margaret's much older sister. I met him again in the early 1950s at Margaret's house on Regent Street, and asked him to explain Einstein's theory to me (I assumed that anyone educated would know about it). He patiently explained it to me, encouraging my youthful aspirations. Most recently I met him at the Anderson Reunions at Springbank Park on August 11, 2007 and June 26, 2010, and found that he was still humorous, considerate, and as intelligent as ever. I still have a video of him playing the bagpipes there in 2007. He was always a good friend of our family.
Thinking of the family and all the fun times as kids running after Bob playing the bag pipes!
Wendy, David and families - I'm so sorry to hear that you've said goodbye to your dad. He and your mom were cornerstones to our world on Plantation Road. I will always remember the bagpipes.
Wendy, Tim and Families Our Thoughts and Prayer are with you
So sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I have very fond memories of both your parents. Hugs everyone! Donna
Why oh why did I not phone him on one of the many times I thought of doing so? It would have been a fun conversation. My last memory of Bob will be dinner at a restaurant in Brockville on a warm summer day with wife Lynne, sister-in-law Nell and brother Don. I will miss him and enjoy the memories. The bagpipes at the Anderson family picnics at Springbank comes to mind.
