Robert Allan Geddes

April 28, 2016

At University Hospital on Thursday, April 28th, 2016 in his 79th year. Loving and loved husband of Lynda (Leddy) for 54 years. Dear father of Michael (Lisa Del Giudice) and Christopher (Evi). Adoring grandfather of Danielle, Madeline and John (their mother Kristine), and Robbie and Jeffrey. Will be dearly missed by his sister Denice Forrest (Don). Cherished brother-in-law of Kathy Banks (Tony), Mary-Jo Roy (Harry) and Joyce Leddy (late Jerry). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Red and Noreen Geddes of London. Bob was an exceptional athlete excelling in summer and winter sports. His love was hockey. He had a storied junior hockey career in London and continued playing left wing for 60 years. He was a fierce competitor; ask any London area right-winger. On the golf course he was a gentleman with a natural swing and a quick, dry wit, as heard for decades around the greens at Sunningdale and The Oaks. He loved his sports and reveled in the camaraderie of his teammates and competitors equally. A 53-year career as a well respected life insurance agent with a CLU designation. Bob served his clients with professionalism and integrity. On numerous occasions, he received accolades as a top performer nationally. A special thank you to the 4th Floor Internal Medicine Team at University Hospital for their compassionate care and kindness. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Friday, May 6th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bob are asked to consider the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario.

Lynda, Mike and Chris, words cannot express how sorry Gerry and I were to hear of the passing of your husband and father. He was an extraordinary man and he loved his family. Our families grew up together and you are and always will be our extended family. I look back at all the hockey tournaments that you were in Mike that our family would attend as well as all the Card nights and sleep overs. All great memories that we will always cherish. As you were there for us 3 years ago we will be there for you and I am sure Bob and Bill are up there right now with a Beer in their one hand and a golf club in the other. Hugs to you all family xxoo

Lynda, Mike, Chris and families; Words are inadequate at times like this but be assured that I understand your sorrow and my thoughts are with you. I knew Bob from the days of the old Lou Ball juniors whom Red coached, through his days as an excellent competitive player (and golfer), and as an excellent player with oldtimer hockey. It was a privledge to have been able to call him a friend.

~ Bruce Huff

Mike: Lisa and I were so sorry to hear about your dad. You have spoken so fondly of him and clearly he was a great dad who raised you to be the thoughtful and principled man you are today. This is, undoubtedly, a very difficult for you and your family. Please know that we are thinking of you and wishing you comfort. May your pain lessen in the weeks ahead and may one day soon, you be able to remember him with a smile.
