Rita Catherine McKegney

October 25, 2016

Peacefully, with a smile, after suffering a heart attack following Sunday dinner and plenty of Dave’s homemade gravy (which she loved) on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016. Predeceased by husband Bill and cherished daughter Cathie. Much loved mom of Peter, Dave (Ellen) and Pam. Cherished grandmother of Drew (Laura), Sam, Mike (Kyla) and Michelle. “Mom” to Altin Ricci and Genti Dervishi. Rita grew up in Preston, Ontario, attended the University of Toronto, and practiced as a physiotherapist for many years. She was a long-time member of St. John the Divine Church, the CWL, Trefoil Guild and bell choir. Rita was a world traveller and lived a spirited life until the end. Sincere thanks to the L.H.S.C. and Arbor Trace staff for their attentive personal care and professionalism. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. I am deeply saddened to just find out about not only Rita's passing but also of Cathie. Deeply shocked. My condolences to all the family. Heartbreaking. We met on a train from Wales as they were travelling the UK. Cathie chatted me up (!) and I ventured to tour with them both down to Stratford and London. We kept in touch as pen friends and I was informed with all of Cathie's, her mum and family news until suddenly a few years back I didn't get letters any more....? 24/7 work intervened as it does.... I reflect with much fondness and more than a tear. God Bless Rita and Cathie. Love to you all. Philip

Dearest Pam and family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. I didn't know her well or for long but she was a special person. I do believe when we leave this earth our spirits stay among those we cared for and are guiding and protecting us in all that we do. If you happen to think of it when you feel her presence tell her I said Hello. Diana

Rita McKegney was one of our favourite people. We loved to meet her by chance and have a cheery little conversation. We last saw her at Mass with Pam on either Christmas or perhaps it was Easter, and yes, she was that same sweet lady, giving a compliment, making us smile and wishing us well. We pray that God has now complimented her for a life well lived, given her so much for which to smile and is keeping her eternally well.
