Rita passed away at Chartwell Parkhill Long Term Care Residence, on March 29, 2014 at the age of 90 years. She is now at peace with her husband, the late Frederick Wood. Dear mother of Dieter “Derek” (Melva), Angela Desjardine (James), Gordon, and Kevin (Karen). Loving Nana of Benjamin (Jade), Toby (Tira), Jessamy (Paul), Claire (Scott), Casey and Braden and great-Nana of Marco, Francesca, Chelsea, Lukas, Brody, Liam, Taylor, Abbey and Finley. Rita grew up in Wedel, Germany, met her husband after the war and together moved to England. In 1961 the family moved to Canada where she worked for many years at Eaton’s in the Ladies Fashion Department, and enjoyed the many friendships made there. Her family wishes to thank the caring staff at Chartwell Parkhill for the care and compassion shown to both Rita and Frederick. The memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, April 12th, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.
