Ricky Harriss
December 2, 2010
HARRISS, RICKY – On December 2, Ricky Harriss, age 51, died peacefully, at home, from heart failure. Ricky was a loving husband to his high school sweetheart Dana, who he cherished. He was the proud father of Breanne, Alexandra and Daniel. Ricky was a devoted son of Joyce and the late Norm Harriss of Woodstock. Dear brother of Kim Jamieson (Steve) of Kingston and Vicki Harriss and her partner Randy Howland of Brantford. Brother-in-law of Ginny Scott (Alan) of Burlington. Dear uncle of Nancy and Christopher Scott of Burlington and Kailee and Taralyn Jamieson of Kingston. Beloved son-in-law of Nancy and the late Murray Gray of Woodstock. Rick was an Inspector with the London Police Service, where he served for 30 years. He loved the people he worked with, enjoyed the camaraderie of his colleagues and never hesitated to reach out to someone in need. The things that Ricky loved best were Alexandra’s art which inspired him. He took such great pride in her accomplishments. He loved coaching Dan’s hockey and lacrosse, as well as watching him play football. He also was a big fan of Breanne’s basketball, cheering from the sidelines at every game. Ricky was a loyal fan of the Toronto (Make Me Laughs) Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rick was more than a sports fan though, he was an amazing athlete all his life. He played hockey, football and golf. He was the original “Cycle to Work” champion where he inspired many of his colleagues to join him in ‘going green’. Rick loved to cook treating the family and friends to Italian feasts and delicious meals from the BBQ. Ricky also loved to read. Visitation will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday from 1:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 p.m. A memorial celebration of life will be held at St. Peter’s Basilica, 196 Dufferin Avenue, London, on Monday, December 6th, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ricky’s name to the Memorial Boys and Girls Club of London.
