Richard ‘Dick’ Leven Low
November 26, 2021
Peacefully, at peopleCare Oakcrossing, on Friday, November 26, 2021, at the age of 90. Dick married his first love, Dorothy Pidduck, in 1955. Together they raised four children: Graham (Linda), Cindy, Gord (Laurie), and Ted. They have seven grandchildren: Matthew, Molly, Clara, Evan, Maddy, Joey, and Geoff. Dick was predeceased by his brothers, James and Bill – both of whom he missed deeply. Dick was born in the company town of Kenogami, 200 miles north of Québec City. He was an excellent student and was recommended to the Young Executives program at London Life at age 17, moving him to Montréal. He lived at the YMCA with his brother Bill, where they learned the ropes of the big city. Dick was a London Life Insurance Company executive for over 40 years, eventually becoming a vice president. He succeeded in his work but was excited to retire in 1991, to spend time travelling with his wife, Dorothy. The family will fondly remember all their adventures together including their times at Osoyoos, British Columbia. The family is deeply grateful to peopleCare Oakcrossing Long Term Care for the compassionate care of Dick. A memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. A reception will follow after the service. Registration and proof of double vaccination are required to attend the visitation, service, and reception.
