Richard “Dick” Crawford

February 18, 2022

London Division mourns the loss today of our Life member, Richard (Dick) Crawford who passed away in his 88th year at Dearness Home, London, Ontario at 3:00 am on February 18, 2022. Dick was born in Radville, Saskatchewan on April 12, 1934, and joined the RCMP on October 9, 1953. He trained at Fairmount Barracks in Vancouver with second part training at Depot Division Regina. Dick served for many years at various postings in “F”,“E”, & “HQ” Divisions and retired as a Sergeant in June 1976 and joined the RCMP Veterans Association Regina Division in 1981 and later transferred his membership to London Division in 1999 when he moved to this area.  He was secretary of the London Vets from 1999 to 2002. Dick was a Life member of London Division since February 2005.

Dick married Jean Stice while in Regina and they were married in the RCMP Chapel at Depot Division on February 22, 1958.  (Jean is also an Associate member of London RCMP Veterans Division.)  Left to mourn are sons Randall Crawford and his wife Sharla and grandchildren Shawn and his lady Cassie Walker and Lindsay Crawford from London, Ontario and son Douglas Crawford and his wife Leisa and Grandson Sonny Crawford of Townsville, Australia.

With deteriorating health due to Parkinsons, Dick was confined for the past little while to Dearness Home in London, Ontario and Jean faithfully visited him as much as the current Covid Crisis would permit.  He recently fell and broke his hip which also contributed to his passing.  Cremation arrangements have been made through the Westview Funeral Chapel in London with Spring interment at the RCMP Cemetery at Depot Division in Regina.

Expressions of sympathy and condolences can be sent to Jean Crawford at 608-905 Southdale Road West, London, ON N6P 1V5.

May he rest in peace.
