To Janet and fmaily: My sincere sympathies for your loss. During my years at CCH working with you and Phil, I recall he was always chpper and smiling. I recall his love for golf, and soccer and badminton and was a real competitor. I know these last few years have been difficult for all of you. May you find peace and hold onto your loving memories of such a super guy.
I had the privilege (and pleasure) of being taught chemistry at Carlton-le-Willows Grammar School in Gedling, Nottingham in the early 1960's. My endearing memories, however, are of the time he spent with myself and others as one of our cricket coaches, and his help in guiding me to represent Nottinghamshire Grammar Schools. A marvellous teacher and man, who I am sure will be sadly missed by his family in Canada. Rest in peace, Sir - one of lifes true gentlemen
I'm so sorry to hear of the death of Mr Wombwell. He taught me Chemistry at Kimberley Comp in the early 80s, and was head of our sixth form. He was a brilliant, enthusiastic, inspiring teacher - it's thanks to him that I went on to study Chemistry at university. He was also a very lovely gentleman, and a mentor not to only me, but to all his students. Condolences to his family. The world is a poorer place without him.
Our sincere condolences to Janet and the family. May your memories bring you strength to see you through this journey.

My favourite memory of Phil - my mother and I took a month-long boat trip through the canals of Europe not long after she and Phil started dating. He sent her with a package filled with cards and notes - one to be opened for every day of the trip. How wonderfully romantic!
Ian & family - I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I know he meant a lot to you. A friend has been lost for sure. With his English charms and schoolboy face, Phil was really a good friend. I will never forget the golf outings, his love of teaching (chemistry), and his attempt at singing. Many heartfelt discussions over a pint were the norm. Though the affliction kept him from being with us, the memories of his spirit and substance as a person will always be close. To Janet and his family, our sincere sorrow for the loss of this English Gentleman. Mitch and Lucille
