Peter Sutton Lefebvre

March 11, 1948 - January 25, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Sutton Lefebvre in London, Ontario. Born on March 11, 1948, in Montreal, Peter spent his formative years there. He also enjoyed holidays in the Laurentians, swimming in the summer, and skiing at Saint-Sauveur in the winter. Where he would build lifelong friendships, one of his dearest friends from those times, Ted Tabah, held a special place in Peter’s heart. After 25 years apart, they rekindled their friendship, and it was as though no time had passed. Their bond was a testament to the enduring power of true friendship.

Peter was the eldest of four siblings, sharing a close-knit upbringing with his brother John (Andrea), his sister Sandra Mason (Ken), and his youngest brother David (Dionisio), all born within a decade of each other. Their shared history, full of love and laughter, was a source of joy and strength for Peter throughout his life. He was proud of his siblings.

As a young man, Peter worked as a ski instructor and held various jobs before discovering his true calling as an insurance agent. His career allowed him to combine his love of people with his exceptional ability to connect, guide, and support those he served. He was a dedicated professional and a true people person, beloved by colleagues and clients alike.

Peter’s life was defined by kindness, warmth, and his unwavering dedication to his family. His relationship with his wife Kerri, who worked alongside him for over 30 years at their successful State Farm insurance agency, it was a testament to their enduring love and partnership. They made a great team. Together, they raised three sons: Brock Cook (Melanie Clarke), Marc (Rachel Fazakas), and Christopher, instilling in them their values of integrity, kindness, and stoicism. He will be missed by brothers-in-law Kevin Gardner (Tammy), Tim Gardner (Julie), and sister-in-law Shaunalee Garrow (Dwayne).

Peter was a devoted grandfather, lovingly known as Bompa, who treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren: Christopher, Tori (mother Hailey Brook), Cohen, and Jensen. He shared his passion for golf with his family, mentoring Marc in the game and inspiring him to pursue a career in the golf industry. A proud member of West Haven Golf and Country Club for 25 years, Peter built lasting friendships and cherished the camaraderie of his weekly rounds with a close-knit group of friends.

Peter was passionate about history and literature, often spending time quietly reading a book after dinner. He also enjoyed swimming in the pool, finding peace and relaxation in doing a few lengths. His wisdom and calming presence made him a natural storyteller, like the story of when he was working in northern Quebec, and was in a helicopter crash. If you knew him well enough, inevitably you would hear this exciting story.

Peter’s selflessness shone through in the way he adopted Marc’s dream to visit St. Andrews in Scotland. Even while facing the challenges of illness, Peter embraced the trip as a way to fulfill his son’s dream. With Marc and Kerri by his side, Peter stood on the iconic Swilken Bridge—a moment that held deep emotional significance. This journey reflected Peter’s unwavering dedication to his family, demonstrating the lengths he would go to help his loved ones achieve their dreams, no matter the personal sacrifice.

Peter’s hospitality was a hallmark of his character, always ready to share warm meals and engaging conversation with his close friends. His passion for travel deeply enriched his family’s lives, especially through their March break trips to Saint-Sauveur. This beloved place held a special place in his heart, and Peter was eager to pass on the joy he found there, inviting his children, friends, and extended family to experience the beauty and memories he treasured so much and to create new ones.

Peter’s kindness, quiet wisdom, and steadfast character were an anchor to those around him. He had a way of making everyone feel at ease, never demanding attention but always offering sage advice and an open heart.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, sons, grandchildren, in-laws, and countless friends (with a special nod to Barry McDowell, Dave Jansen, and Stuart Lennox). His legacy of love, kindness, and strength lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, with a celebration of life to follow in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Rest in peace, Peter. You were a gift to all of us, and your memory will remain a blessing. You were so easy to love, and we love you dearly.
