April 16, 2012
Peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on April 16th, 2012, after battling kidney failure for many years. Peter was in his 78th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Gwen (née Wright) and loving father of Karen, James (Cheryl) and Kathryn (Louis) Vanderwey. Cherished “Papa Peter” of Jayden, Joshua and Joseph Vanderwey. He is survived by his sister Barbara Nelles and by his sister-in-law Marilyn (Keith) Wright-Davidson. Predeceased by brothers-in-law Richard Nelles and Don Wright. Peter was loved by many nieces and nephews. Peter was employed for 37 years at Canada Vitrified in St. Thomas, Ontario, which was owned by National Sewer Pipe and later by Canada Brick. Cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 22nd, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., with sharing of memories at 3:00 p.m., at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory to the Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated. The family extends a heartfelt “Thank You” to the staff at Victoria and South Street Dialysis units.

You will be greatly missed. Always had a smile to greet you - even if we woke you up at night during the sleepovers. My kids enjoyed going to your house for Halloween as you always gave them extra candy. Great childhood memories with you that will last forever!
