Our thoughts and prayers are with you Sherry....I never met him but your smiles and beaming face while relaying stories and cherished memories about your dad and your mom spoke volumes about your love for them and their love for each other. Your dad was a precious gift and is now together with your mom once more. Rest in peace .. xo
My deepest sympathy to the Downs family. I looked forward to the warm weather when I could sit on the Pond Mills balcony with your Dad and enjoy the weather and listen to his memories of Newfoundland, the military and how he wrecked his knees climbing up and down those hydro poles. We always greeted each other with a salute. Paul was my go to Flag Bearer each Remembrance Day. Wearing his medals and beret he proudly accepted the honour, even when it became more challenging for him to walk that distance. Paul always looked out for and helped your Mom. May you find comfort in knowing they have been reunited and in the heart full of memories you must have. Thank you for sharing him with us. He will always hold a special place in my heart

I had the privilege of working with Paul at Bell. He was a wonderful friend, and was so open about his love for his beloved Edna and his children and grandchildren. I especially enjoyed it when he would reach into his desk drawer "joke file" and pull something out to make us all laugh. My condolences to his family. I'm so sorry that this year has taken both of your parents from this Earth. Rest in Peace Paul.

Wonderful Brother In-law, you will always be remembered. Everytime I would visit you in the home and say 'how are you today?' your response would be 'god only knows, and he won't tell me'. I have so many wonderful memories of years past, and I am very greatful for the love and care you provided my Sister. Sending strength and love to JoAnn, Sherry and Brendan. Rest in peace dear Paul.

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Paul. He was truly a well respected and honourable man. I have great memories of him especially in the early days of when he and Aunt Edna would visit us in Grand Falls. I have no doubt that he's with Aunt Edna who was truly the love of his life. Our condolences go out to Paul.Sherry.Joann and Brandon. Rest In Peace Uncle Paul. We will always remember and love you both

Well dad, how does a daughter say goodbye to the best father and man I have known and been proud to love. You taught me integrity, love and respect, you taught me that life isn't easy and when you are met with adversity, get up and fight!!!! I always knew I could turn to you, not so you could "fix" my situation but to remind me that I had it in me to resolve it myself. In your later years, I enjoyed seeing your smile when I walked in the home, watching you enjoy your Timmies and hearing you tell me how important and loved mom was. You are my hero, yesterday, today and forever dad. Watching you suffer was the most difficult days of my life.....I thought, but saying goodbye has taken the number one spot in my heart. I am so proud to say that I am your daughter and I know you are with the love of your life now and out of pain. FOREVER dad, I will see you again in time. Fly high dad and give mom a hug for me Eternally loved, Your daughter Sherry
