Paul Joseph Meyer
October 10, 2024
Surrounded by the love of his family, Paul Joseph Meyer died peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the age of 80. He was a devoted husband to Kathy (née Kearns) for 50 wonderful years.
Paul was a proud father to Kristin (Kevin) Trotter, Jill (Jeff) Bell, and Dave (Amber Bowles). He took immense joy in being a loving Grandpa to Rachel, Kamille, Cody, Karis, and Kingsley. Paul is survived by his sisters Carolyn (Dallas) Elliott and Anne (Paul) Medema, and by his brother, Jim. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Cashen.
A graduate of Western University, Paul began his teaching career at St. Joseph’s High School in St. Thomas. He later moved to London, where he continued to teach at Catholic Central, Regina Mundi, and then John Paul II. He was a highly regarded science teacher with a particular fondness for environmental science studies.
While Paul enjoyed a successful career, he always considered his greatest accomplishment to be his unwavering dedication to his family.
Paul had a lifelong passion for nature, a love he nurtured and shared with everyone around him, especially through his enthusiasm for gardening and birdwatching. An avid fisherman, Paul found his greatest joy in retirement casting his line into the Maitland and Thames rivers.
Even after he could no longer play hockey and baseball, Paul found joy in supporting his favourite teams—the Cleveland Guardians and Browns, Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs—always cheering them on with enthusiasm. He also cherished his early morning workouts at the gym, where he maintained both his personal fitness and close friendships with his gym community throughout his lifetime membership.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at St. John Divine Parish, 390 Base Line Road West, London, at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mission Services of London or the Canadian Wildlife Federation for their Education Programs in Paul’s name.
His legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

I was sorry to learn of Paul's death. He was a pleasant gentleman and an excellent teacher. We shared some good laughs and serious conversation as colleagues at CCH. Sincere sympathies to Kathy and the Meyer family at this time of grief. May he rest in peace. Condolences and prayers, Pat O'Brien,M.P.(Ret.)
Kathy- Our heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Paul was a brave, gentle and kind man. I feel honoured to have been his close friend for over 50 years. I still remember the night where he rounded second base, put on the brakes and severely injured his knee. He also taught me how to “ night fish” for bass on a camping trip to Temagami. We will all have our special memories of our times spent with Paul.
I am very sorry for your loss Kathy, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Paul will always be in your thoughts, your beautiful memories and forever in your hearts. Our Lord has called him home. Antoinette
