Patricia Monahan (née Murphy)
March 21, 2017
Born February 6, 1929 in Dublin, Ireland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 21st, 2017 at McGarrell Place. Beloved Mother to Valerie Grech (Joe), Alan (Mary), Caroline Mamone (Frank), Derek, Sylvia Watts (Mike), Louise Bogart (Todd) and mother-in-law to Nancy Monahan. Predeceased by Richard Monahan and daughter-in-law Karen Monahan. Loving Nana to Jennifer, Julie, Sarah, Hayley, Laura, Julia, Jason, Melissa, Carly, Rachel and Robbie; great-Nana to Dustin, Nicole, Kristina, James, Jackson, Dylan, Amelia, Lily Rose and Madelyn, and soon to be great-great-Nana. Mom was one of eleven children born to Thomas and Mary Murphy of Cabra, Ireland. Mom’s siblings: Maura, Anne, Eileen, Greta, Vera, Betty, Laura, Sean, Bob and Tommy. Our Mom and Dad immigrated to Canada from Ireland in May 1967 with their six children. Mom was proud of her Irish roots, but felt that Canada was her true home. Mom was an immaculate homemaker, talented seamstress and fabulous cook. Her greatest joy in life was raising her family. After many illnesses and the onset of dementia, Mom moved to Long Term Care where she lived for the past five years. Our family wishes to thank the kind and dedicated staff of McGarrell Place and Dr. Karen Lo, who provided such wonderful care to our Mom. Cremation and private family service has taken place with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery to be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex.
