Patricia Anne Sole

December 3, 2022

Died at University Hospital in London, Ontario on Saturday, December 3, 2022, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of Wayman “Wes” Sole for 64 years. Loving mother of Tracie (David) Little and Dawn Wimbush. Adored grandmother of Patrick and Sean Loffhagen, and Michael Little. Also survived by brother Robert (Janet) Lambley; sister-in-law Beverley Lambley; brother-in-law Carlton (Sharon) Sole; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by parents Arthur and Nellie Lambley, brother Steven Lambley, son-in-law Ron Wimbush, nephew John Lambley, and grandson Christopher Little.

In Pat’s early years she was a secretary at Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School (SCITS) Sarnia. After marriage to Wayman, who was a member of the R.C.A.F., they moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, where she worked off-base as a secretary. She accompanied Wayman on his posting to Europe, where their children Tracie and Dawn were born – Tracie in France and Dawn in Germany. On their return to Canada, and Wayman’s return to civilian life, Pat excelled as a full-time mother and homemaker. Later in life, Pat was a secretary at William Proudfoot House in London, Ontario until it was closed. She was then secretary at First-St. Andrew’s United Church in London, Ontario until her retirement. While at First-St. Andrews, Pat was a long-term member and ringer with the Laudamus Handbell Choir, and after some time took over the tasks of Music Librarian. Not to forget the Knit Wits where she was a prolific knitter of Prayer Shawls and red scarves, and the Ladies Sewing Group where she specialized in making oven and microwave mitts. Her Prayer Shawls have been gratefully received by numerous people across North America and beyond.

Pat’s memory lives on in the many lives she has touched across her years and ministries.

Wes and Family, My sincere and deepest condolences on Pat’s passing. I first met Pat when I joined the sewing group at FSA. I remember Pat diligently working at her sewing machine making microwave mitts while the rest of us were busy chatting. She always brought jokes for another member to read during coffee break as she did not want to read them herself. I remember a day when I was very upset about a family matter and the next thing I knew, Pat was standing beside me with one of her prayer shawls to comfort me. Pat will be sadly missed by me and all of us in the sewing group. Cindi Lee
