Norma Leah (nee James) Smith

Beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital, London, on Tuesday, March 4th, 2014 at the age of 76. Born on December 15th, 1937 at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. She graduated from Sir Adam Beck Secondary School. On December 5th, 1959 she married her life partner, William (Bill) Smith, and they settled in West London. She worked for the London Life Insurance Company for 37 years. Norma was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority (Chi Master Chapter), where she developed many lasting friendships, gathered regularly to learn new things and support various types of charitable organizations. Norma is survived by her husband Bill, two brothers Colin and Glenn and sisters-in-law Jackie and Beth. She was preceded in death by her parents Thelma and Edward James. Private family service will be held with interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. I was one of the lucky ones who got to work with Norma...she made coming to work fun....norma's best quality is that she made everyone feel special .....you always had her full attention when talking with her. Norma had the best sense of humor...i loved laughing with her. Norma and I loved to share recipies and garages sale finds. Norma you made the world a better place...wonderful memories ....will miss you my friend!
Dear Bill, I am so sorry for your loss. Norma was such a lovely lady and dear friend. She loved to hear stories about my kids and always asked after them, such a sweet lady. I will miss her so much. I had the pleasure of working with Norma for a number of years. She had a gift of making everyone feel they were important and listened intently to everyone's stories. We would share our stories of our dogs, and had a common bond because of our love for dogs. Bill I am so sorry for your loss and you and the family and are in my thoughts and prayers. Norma rest in peace,,,we will all miss you and your wonderful laugh!!

I had the wonderful pleasure of knowing Norma for over 35 years . I first met Norma through our work and we then remained close friends. I have many fond memories of my visits to Norma and Bills. I would always be so excited to see Norma as we had such wonderful talks and laughs and sometime tears. I will miss her infectious smile and laugh, and also Norma had such great insight on life . I was so blessed to have Norma in my life and will think of her often with a smile and remember back to all of our great times together. We were friends in high school, we both worked at the London Life, you lasted many years longer than I. Time has passed, lives moved forward, and we lost touch but you were always in my thoughts, you and Dixie... the three of us had great times together and now i say goodbye to a great friend... I well remember working with Norma, first at the Crumlin trap shoots, and then at the Ontario Provincial shoots in Hamilton. Please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of this pleasant, gracious lady.
Bill - I find words escape me as I mourn with you the loss of Norma. What a delightfully warm and caring lady she was; and through our common love of Dixie, (and of dogs) we had many thought provoking conversations and many many laughs.
