Matthew Paul Ferguson

March 16, 2011

FERGUSON, Matthew Paul – Matthew Paul Ferguson’s life came to a tragic end on the ski slopes in Kelowna, British Columbia on Wednesday, March 16, 2011.  Matthew was the son of Susan (McCabe) and the late Paul Ferguson, brother of Michael and Jennifer (Jim Garner), and loving boyfriend of Brittany Saldarelli.  Matthew was born in Chatham, Ontario on July 9, 1983 and grew up in Lambeth.  He was currently living with Michael and Jennifer in Kelowna, attending college and loving the B.C. lifestyle.  Matthew had the rare ability to touch the lives of virtually everyone he met.  His joy for life, his infectious smile, and incredible spirit were felt by everyone he knew.  Those lucky enough to call him a friend or family member will carry a piece of that spirit with them forever. He will be sadly missed, always loved and forever remembered.  The family will receive friends at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North on Wednesday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m., where a celebration of Matthew’s life will be conducted on Thursday, March 24 at 1 p.m.  Donations may be made in Matthew’s memory to the London Humane Society or to a charity of your choice.

To Matt's family and friends. I was one of Matt's professors at Okanagan College here in Kelowna, B.C. He was in my accounting class in the fall and in my finance class this semester. Matt made a big impression on me in the short time that I knew him. He was a very bright student, but more noteworthy was his positive attitude and his big beaming smile that greeted us all every day! On behalf of his classmates who share my grief in his passing, we wish you all the deepest of condolences at this very difficult time!

Dear Sue, Michael and Jen We are neighbors of Michael and Jen in Kelowna and had the opportunity of meeting Matthew only a couple of times. They were brief moments but Dale and I walked away from those moments saying to each other what a wonderful and funny young man. We recognized right away that this was a very special person someone who would want to enjoy more often and were looking forward to hanging out with him this summer. You should be very proud of Matthew, as a son and a brother. Our thoughts are with you and our sympathy goes out.
