Mary Hamilton Wyatt

July 25, 1930 - September 27, 2022

She entered this world on July 25, 1930.  For all those who knew her, she made the world a better place until she left it on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 in London, Ontario.  Mary was predeceased by her parents John and Isa Law, and by her husband Dr. J.K. (Jack) Wyatt.  She is survived by her brother John Richard Law.  She was mother to Robert, Catherine and David (Rossana) and proud grandmother to Harrison (Anna), Spencer and Alexandra.

Mary grew up ‘East of Adelaide’ in London, Ontario.  She attended Ealing Public School, Sir Adam Beck Collegiate and the University of Western Ontario where she received her BScN.  She graduated from Victoria Hospital School of Nursing and worked for the Victorian Order of Nurses in public health, heading up their St. Thomas branch.  A cheerleader and drum majorette for the Western Mustang Football teams of the early 1950s, she married the captain of the 1952-1953 Senior Intercollegiate Champion team in 1954.  Mary remained a cheerleader for all of her children and grandchildren.  She was a lover of cottage life, as a child camping with her family on the beach at Port Burwell, then at her parent’s cottage on the shore of Lake Huron south of Goderich.  As an adult, her favourite cottage was her own authentic Swiss ski chalet at Devil’s Glen Country Club.  Mary was a lover of all animals, especially black Labrador retrievers, of which she had six unique examples over her lifetime.  She enjoyed tennis and played for many years at various locations around London.  She was a fairly accomplished golfer, but played it for social reasons.  She first skied as a teenager at London Ski Club, before there were tows.  She returned to skiing with her young family at Devil’s Glen, and became quite proficient.  A member of the Silver Foxes, she also enjoyed Marg McConville’s ladies’ ski trips.  She worked with St. John Ambulance, and taught first aid at Fanshawe College.  For many years, Mary was a member of the Salvation Army Children’s Village Women’s Auxiliary.   We will miss her dearly.

Private family funeral only.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.  Mary wished that any donations be made to the wildlife rehabilitation group Salthaven, salthaven.org, (519) 264-2440 or to the charity of your choice.

I only met her once, as a neighbour, but wished I could have had time to know her better. She was an elegant, charming lady. Roberta

We've had the pleasure of knowing this amazing lady since 1992. It started with walking our dogs at Reservoir Park then transitioned to daily walks with Ema, Carol, Lynn, Ted, Sue and various other people with their dogs. Many great laughs and talks on our walks. One of my favorite memories was 2 years ago for Mary's birthday, having a raspberry pie made for her from the wild berries here at the farm. She'd often pick some to take home to eat. Ema always enjoyed eating the berries and would actually knock down corn stalks and eat the cobs like a person. Mary was all about her children, grandchildren, Ema and The Glen. She always kept us up to date on everyone's life. She will be missed. Hugs Forever Miss Mary! xoxoxox Tim, John, (Dakota, Hannah, Sunny, Darwin, Maibel, Molly and Rio).
