Mary-Anne Hazel Masse (née Bedard)
April 26, 2023
I was born in St. Joseph, Ontario on June 5, 1933, and passed away on April 26, 2023. I was the youngest of 10 siblings to my loving parents, the late Celima (née Ducharme) Bedard (1976) and Leon Bedard (1967). Predeceased by my loving husband of 52 years Michael ‘Porky’ (2007). Loved and proud of my children Michael Masse (Bonnie) of Stratford, Laura Vermunt (John) of Ailsa Craig, Perry Masse (Sherry) of London, Debbie Chokelal (Raymond) of Oshawa and Richard Masse (Nancy) of London. Mémé to my precious grandchildren Michael Masse (Jenn), Brodie Masse (Darlyn), Sadie Hatoum (Mo), Logan Vermunt, Michelle Hughes (Chris), Stevie Masse (Ryan), Holly Miller (Kyle), Makenna Chokelal, Ericka Masse (James) and Jordyn Masse. Adorable great-grandchildren Dexter and Beau Masse, Issam Hatoum, Ben and Brooklyn Hughes and Hazel Miller. Dear sister of Jean Kochut (late George). Predeceased by Eulene Ryder (Frank), Edna Milne (Peter), Laura Corriveau (Lucien), Percy Bedard (Marie), Benedict Bedard, Ritchie Bedard, Nelson Bedard (Jean), Clement Bedard (Ursula) and Natalie Bedard. Predeceased by my in-laws, the famous Masse family, Mabel (1950) and Jim (1972). Dear in-law of Monica Barker Wolfe. Survived by many nieces and nephews, which I adore. I was a member of the CWL since 1968. A big thank you to my wonderful friends and neighbors. Thank you to Dr. Osayi for your excellent care and Father Pio D’Oria and Father Don Pumputis for being so kind and caring. I was a proud organ donor. Hopefully I can help someone like my Porky, as he had two successful cornea transplants. Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Springbank Catholic (St. John the Divine Parish), 390 Baseline Road West, London, on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Private family interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery in St. Joseph, Ontario. Dear Members of Mary-Anne's Family: My name is Fr Richard Charrette. I am a cousin of your mom (by marriage) and knew your mom and dad and they knew me well. I grew up just south of St Joseph. Your grandmother, Mabel Masse, was a sister to my grandfather Charrette, Johnnie Charrette. My dad was Dennis Charrette (mom Geraldine LaPorte). Your grandma & grandpa lived right next door to us on the farm before moving to St Joseph. I also knew your grandma & grandpa Bedard (Leon & Celima) well and the younger members of their family. I want to express my deepest sympathy at the loss of your wonderful mom and grandma (and great-grandma). I plan to say god-bye to her at the chapel on Monday and to concelebrate mass for her at St John the Divine at 1 pm. So I hope to see you all then. I will pray for her and, of course, celebrate mass for her. God bless you all. Fr Richard Charrette (I live in London, retired). Thank you. Fr R Charrette
Dear Members of Mary-Anne Masse's Family: I am Fr Richard Charrette, a cousin of your dad Porky and of your mom by marriage. Your grandmother, Mabel, was a younger sister to my grandfather, Johnnie Charrette (only boy with nine sisters). My dad Dennis (mom Geraldine LaPorte) was first cousin to your dad. I knew your mom and dad well - grew up there just south of St Joseph - and they knew me. In fact, your dad's family lived right next to my grandpa's (and later my dad's) farm before moving to St Joseph. Your Uncle Bob lived there in my day. I wish to express my deepest sympathy at the loss of your mom. Your parents were great. Unfortunately, I am booked up on Monday. I will try to squeeze in at 10 am but not sure. I would love to see you and to say good-bye to her. In any case I will pray for her and for you and I will celebrate mass for her. God bless you. Fr Richard Charrette P.S. I knew your grandpa Leon and his wife Celina well also, and most of the younger members of the Bedard family.
Richard, Nancy and the entire Masse family. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies on the loss of your Mother and you are in my thoughts and prayers. I will not be able to attend the visitation due to being out of Province, but will be thinking of you all. Take Care Respectfully, Steve Hewitt
Please accept my most sincere sympathies in the loss of your mother Mary-Anne Hazel. I hope you take solace in the words of this poem. The beauty of a memory is that it's always there; Like a penny in your pocket, you can take it anywhere. And when your heart is heavy, and your eyes are filled with tears; You can focus on a memory, and travel through the years. Your heart can visit happy times, when laughter filled the air; And the presence of your loved one, will lessen your despair. So, as you travel on in life, take comfort as you go; In a lifetime of "sweet memories" of one who loved you so!
Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.
We all loved our Aunt Mary-Anne and will miss her friendliness and wonderful smile. We send our sincere condolences to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
