He was a great neighbour and a wonderful friend. We always cherished the memories of the times he helped by looking after the younger kids while I ran the oldest one to kindergarden , cutting our grass so I didn't have to do it :), and just being Marv.....someone to count on when needed. Marv was such a joy at our summertime Walk Kick Off event, joking and having a good time with his buddies. What a beautiful photo of him, says so much about him. Helen, Lloyd, Ron, and Family. We are sorry to hear about Marv. He was the best neighbor that anyone could ask for. You couldn't ask for a better man who was always willing to lend a hand. We always knew that he had a good watch on all of us, making sure all was good. We always got a smile on our face when we saw him and enjoyed all of the laughs that we had together. Serving with CWO MacDonald was a pleasure. His attitude was always positive, his advice diplomatic and coupled with his great sense of humour, always well received. A fine soldier and a gentleman in every sense of the word. It has been my privilege to have been acquainted with this man of courage, honour and decency.

Helen and family: You don't know me but I have lived in Scott's Bay all my life. I remember Marven. I have school pictures with him in them taken at the school in Scott's Bay. He was near my brother Jim Huntley's age. I would like to send condolences to you and the family from all that knew him in the Bay. Looking at the messages you have received; it appears that he was well loved and respected. I knew your dad and was his nurse at one time in the old BFM Hospital in Kentville. An exceptional man and leader. It was my privilege to have served with Marv over the years in the Airborne and The Regiment. I couldn't have asked for a better RSM. His leadership and council were superb.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Marv. He played an integral part at Remembrance Day parades in Dorchester during my service as a Cadet and Officer of 201 Squadron. A proud honourable Veteran and mentor. He will be missed and definitely not forgotten.

Please accept my sincere condolences. I didn't know him well, however; he was the Sergeant Major at CABC Edmonton AB, in Nov/Dec 1982 when I was on my jump course . He would give an inspirational speech at the end of every day boosting our morale, which I remember to this day. After day one he showed up with a large box of A535 for everyone and in his loud SM voice he made sure that we passed the box around and that got a tube and knew to use it. It's funny the thing that you remember. Such a simple act, but it showed me what type of person he really was. He personified not only an Airborne Soldier but a great and decent human being. Marv and I served together in the Canadian Airborne Regiment in Edmonton in the early 70's and I was always struck by his professionalism, intent to always do the "right thing," and of course, his wry sense of humour. Rest easy good soldier. Airborne.

Helen and family, so sad to hear of Marvens passing. He was a good friend and listener and was always willing to help me out at the Sunoco Gas Station (now the Petro Canada) at 1790 Ernest Avenue. Whether he just dropped by for a chat or eager to help me shovel the snow in the wintertime, it was always a pleasure to see him. How I have missed his home baked apple pies that he used to bring me in for a taste test and his moustache that he always had so well groomed . He will be deeply missed and rest in peace Marven. I was shocked to hear of Marv's death and sadly will not be able to attend his funeral as we are in Texas. Each of us who knew this wonderful man, great soldier and engaging friend will miss him immensely. Helen our prayers are with you.
