Marlene Lillian Reed (née Jury)
April 2, 1940 - October 22, 2023
With profound sadness, we announce the death of our beloved mother, Marlene Lillian Reed (née Jury) on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the age of 83. Surrounded by her children in the ICU at London’s University Hospital, she went to her heavenly home.
Born on April 2, 1940, in London, Ontario to the late Earl and Lillian Jury, Marlene was a life-long teacher, mother, and best friend to many. She is survived by her four children, Jeff (Beth), Angela (Rick), Rebecca (Arthur), and Greg (Heather); as well as grandchildren Lucas, Jacob, Noah, Melissa, David, and Colin. Predeceased by her husband Ken (2012) and grandson Joshua (1994). Marlene is also survived by her close-knit sibling group, Don (Elda), Larry (Anne), and Barb (Tom), as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marlene was immensely proud of her family, and enjoyed many simple pleasures of life: reading, coffee with a friend, bible study, and shopping with her daughters and sister. In her later years, she successfully navigated the online world and took great delight in her ability to text, stream a video, and pay her bills! Known for her petite stature but grand spirit, Marlene was described by everyone as a kind and loving woman. Her strong devotion to the Christian faith never wavered, especially as her health began to decline. In her final days, Marlene’s wish to be called home to her eternal life with our Heavenly Father was made clear to us.
At Marlene’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Mom was the best of what it meant to be Christian. Mom was a true blessing to our family, my wife, her daughter, and me , my kids, her grandchildren Mom shared her time, resources, energy, money and love willingly and accepted all of us in all our brokenness,. Mom was the model of what it meant to spread God's love. I will always cherish our talks on bible prophecy , Israel and God's love and the Christian life . In her later life I was privileged to bring a support she requested. None of those occasions were lost on me, on how it was a spiritual journey . You helped me love your daughter more than I thought possible. ..I will see you again as both of us love Jesus. the one who loved us first...,now and forever God have mercy. I will keep my promise . Peace. Rick
Please accept my sincere condolences on the death of your mother and grand mother. Angela has shared so many wonderful stories on our walks together. She was a blessed woman to have raised such a wonderful family- her legacy.
I met Marlene very early in my career as an early childhood educator. Her capacity as a caregiver and educator were vast and ever reaching. She inspired me to be a warm, caring and inspiring individual to everyone. I met in my career. Very thankful for my early exposure to such a wonderful and thoughtful person.
Dear family, I am so very sorry to hear that Marlene has passed away. I was lucky to work with Marlene in the baby nursery at FDN where she and Lea and I shared so many fun times. Hugs and prayers as your family grieves. XO Annette
We extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Marlene’s family. In so many ways, Marlene was a giant: in grace, in love, in gentleness, in compassion, in faith, and in sincerity. What a beautiful soul, who affected the lives of so many. Her heart for children could not be matched. Marlene’s sincere love for the family of Faith has marked the hearts of so many and left an example and challenge to all who knew her. We grieve her loss, as we also rejoice in the shared Faith that marked Marlene’s steps and touched the lives of many others. Until we see you again, Marlene! Xxx ooo
