Marion Lafern Jamieson (née Gee)

August 17, 2023

Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Thursday, August 17, 2023 with her family by her side, Marion Lafern (née Gee) Jamieson of London, in her 95th year, died after a short illness.

Marion was born on December 25, 1928 to the late George and Violet Gee in Oxford County.  She was a kindergarten teacher in Oxford County for 34 years before retiring in June 1985 and eventually settling in London. Over the 38 years of her retirement, she and her husband travelled extensively, including all over Canada and the United States, and memorable trips to Ireland, England, France, and Greece. An avid baseball fan her entire life, she was as dedicated to the Toronto Blue Jays as she was to her family.

Survived by her cherished grandchildren Brent (Megan) and Stephanie; great-grandson James; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Gee and Anne Richardson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Bernard; two sisters, Margaret and Bernice; and two brothers, Aubrey and Russell.

The funeral service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior.  Interment at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada or LHSF – Cancer Program.

A donation has been made. Message from the donator: My best memories of Aunt Marion and Uncle Bernard are the times we spent together in Florida. We were fortunate to have them living very close to us and I can remember our daily bike rides around the neighborhood followed by a return to the house for refreshments and story time. I remember Aunt Marion as a proud member of the Gee family and it was always nice to hear her tell about the many wonderful things going on with our relatives – we always enjoyed story time. Aunt Marion and Uncle Bernard were always together and it is nice to think they are now back together again. They will have much “catching up” to do. Although we are not able to celebrate her life with you in person, we are remembering the many wonderful times we’ve had over the years with a smile. Until we meet again... Doug and Claudia Gee

To Marion's Family: Marion was a faithful attender of our Ladies Coffee Hour at Westview Baptist Church when she was able. I remember her well. Her lovely smile and her busy fingers; crocheting and knitting. She made a lovely crocheted throw for me and I still have it to remember her by. My prayers go to her family that she loved and you loved her, too as we ladies did at the church. Now she is safe in the arms of Jesus. Beulah

A donation has been made to Heart and Stroke. Message from the donator: Brent and Stephanie. I am so sorry to learn of Aunt Marion’s passing. She was a great lady! She always had a sparkle in her eyes when she spoke of the two of you. I know you will miss your Nann deeply. It doesn’t matter the age, we still miss them dearly and there is never enough time. I know for a fact that Dad would have been there the second she arrived in her special new place to give her the biggest hug. Their family chain is now complete. We feel terrible that we will not be able to attend the service because we are away. But we are definitely there in prayer and spirit. Hugs to you both Sue (Gee) DePaepe
