Marilynn Elaine Pettit (née Webster)

March 24, 1940 - March 31, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilynn Elaine Pettit (née Webster) on March 31st, 2025, in her 86th year. Elaine was born on March 24th, 1940 in Tilbury, Ontario to Gordon and Dorothy Webster. Predeceased by her loving husband Joseph George Homer Pettit of 53 years. Their love story began as a surprise first date on her sixteenth birthday and together they created a beautiful and loving life. Cherished mother of Craig Pettit (Lisa), Carrie Harrison (David), and Katie MacLeod (Alex). Beloved Grandma to Kyle (Alex), Scott (Courtney), Shawn (Moriah), Keely, and Braeden. Fondly remembered by her sisters Judith Houston (Gary) and Marlene Keogh, her extended family, and many friends.

Elaine had a long and fulfilling career with the Thames Valley District School Board, where she made a lasting impact as a kindergarten teacher. Her gentle spirit, dedication, and love for children shaped the lives of countless students, and she will always be remembered as a beloved educator who nurtured the curiosity and growth of every child in her care.

Outside of her work, Elaine had many passions. She found great joy in gardening, tending to her plants with the same care and love she gave to her family. Elaine also enjoyed cruising, a cold Diet Coke with lots of ice, her furry companion Poppy, shopping, and most of all, watching her grandchildren grow up and flourish. She cherished every moment spent with them and took immense pride in their accomplishments.

The sadness of Elaine’s passing will be felt by many, but in her own words, she would want everyone to “Suck It Up”, live life fearlessly, and be happy!

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 6:00 – 6:45 p.m., with reception to follow. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Elaine are asked to consider the Thames Valley District School Board Caring Fund.

Our heart felt condolences to the family. The connection between our families has stretched for over forty five years and we look back with many wonderful memories. We wanted to let Craig , Carrie and Katie know that your mom was a very influential, supportive and respected person to many of us, especially in our young lives. We hope you will find comfort in knowing she was important to many of us in the extended baseball family and we wish her a peaceful farewell and happiness being reunited with Mr. Pettit (Homer).

We are so sad to read of Elaine’s passing. She was an important member of the Early Years pod with her wry sense of humour and love for the kids. Elaine will be missed.
