Her sister Lucy Osika, cousin Angela Muckley (of Bantry, Ireland) and her cherished grandchildren, Keegan and Brendan Arnold, Maddelyn, Jessica, and Evan Gilmore, and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was born in 1940 in Skibbereen, a small town on the Southwest coast of Ireland. At the age of 18, Marie left home for London, England, where she met the love of her life, Dave. He was working in London, England. In 1962, Marie immigrated to Rochester, New York to be employed at Bausch and Lomb and Dave returned to St. Catharines, Ontario. In 1985 brought a change of being a homemaker, their children becoming young adults, then Marie began employment with the Federal Government and retired in 2005, having spent time in Ottawa on work assignments.
In retirement, Marie and Dave enjoyed traveling to many European countries and spending their winters in the Algarve, Florida, Australia and New Zealand. When they were home, they loved watching their grandchildren at all their sporting, school and dance events, and spending time with the family in their backyard swimming pool.
The family would like to thank the staff at McCormick (Maple Grove) and Glendale Crossing (Brighton) Long Term Homes for their dedicated care for Marie.
At Marie’s request, a private family service followed by cremation has taken place.

I worked with Marie for most of her career in the Federal Government. She was a fantastic partner at work. Dedicated, reliable, and sensible. I loved sharing personal stories with her where she could let her spunky Irish charm shine. In my time in Her Majesty's Government I worked with thousands of different people. I really only remember well and miss a select few. I missed Marie when she retired as I will now. Cheers! Marie Gilmore
