To Liz and all the rest of the Dumas family: Lucie was, without a doubt, the sweetest lady ever. She was our very dear neighbour on Waterloo Street while I was still at home, and after I moved to Toronto, she remained a kind and concerned friend for decades to my mother, Jean, who passed away in 1996. When I was clearing out Mom’s house, a lonely and sad task, the doorbell would ring and it would be Lucie with a plate of cookies, hugs of encouragement, and loving words about my mom. They were dear, dear friends and my mom loved her. I learned in 1996 that age does not matter when you lose your mother - it is a heartbreaking time and the end of an era. I send you all my heartfelt sympathies. I know you have wonderful memories that will always make you smile when you think of Lucie.
Lucie Dumas was the kindest neighbor one could ever wish for. I enjoyed many gatherings in her home with Lucie as a perfect hostess. I and my husband, Bill, visited her at Longworth Retirement Home and we exchanged gifts and hugs. We chatted about family and reminisced about the past. We loved her dearly. I treasure all the knitted scarves and paintings with which she gifted us. She was the personification of hope, faith, and love. Our condolences to her family and friends. Helen Guthrie (and Bill)
Lucie was a beloved neighbour and a dear friend of our family for over 40 years. She was an especially good friend of our mother, Barb. Lucie gave of herself generously. We have wonderful memories of tea parties, and gifts of hand-knit slippers and homemade goodies. What a gracious lady ! We are upholding you, her family, in prayer.
It is with sadness that I learn of Lucie’s passing, as she has been a ray of sunshine in our Painting Club at Longworth, always giving 150%, always there, always cheering everyone up, always thoughtful and generous. She has been keeping in touch through thoughtful, caring emails and noted, especially during this long period of not being able to be together due to COVID. Her inspiration will be her legacy. What a joy she has been, making her “going Home” reuniting with her beloved husband, a blessing for her, but a great loss to us. May she rest in peace! My deepest condolences to her dearly loved family. May your cherished memories of this “spunky”, wise, creative, loving woman keep her forever with you in your hearts, always feeling her LOVE. Joan Wolfe, one of the Longworth Painting Club teachers.

Lucie was the next door neighbour that everyone wished they had. It was common to arrive home to a package of goodies at our back door. She used to say to my mom that she had been out and "picked up a few things " for our large family. Lucie's teas were well known in the neighbourhood and a delight for all that attended. My deepest condolences to Lucie's family.
