Louise Dorothy (née Werden) Maddock

Each week at Riverside United, Louise and I would meet in the parking lot between services. She would be on her way out. . Louise always shared that she had got a muffin and she was going to eat it in her car- This information, along with her smile and twinkling eyes were like a child sharing something that was a forbidden secret! It was always lovely to see her and share a conversation. My deepest sympathy

Louise was a very special person who lit up the Happy Gang table at the Kiwanis Centre for Friday lunches. She would always tease that she hadn't been served her dessert and many of us were more than happy to share our's with her. Rest in Peace Louise - you will be dearly missed!! Sheila and Judy

I often sat close to Louise at Riverside's 844 service. I will definitely miss our conversations and her friendly smile.

Louise is exactly the kind & gracious neighbour & dear friend you hope may live beside you at some point in your life. When you are lucky enough to have that happen with Louise; it easily leads to 50 years of wonderful laughter and friendship. Growing up on Guildwood meant you could count on feeling welcomed by Louise's warm and easy smile as you played hopscotch or double dutch on her driveway. If your luck would have it that day, she may have found something funny and you were privy to her fantastic sense of humour & contagious laughter. My mother recounts that the Maddock's moved on to the street in 1967; close to the time our family did so. We have fond memories of their annual Labour Day & New Year's Eve celebrations and how the Maddock's clearly valued gathering for good times and building community. As the years passed and families moved; Louise stayed in touch with my Mom, Joyce and they built their Oakridge neighbourhood friendship into one around weekly trips to the Kiwanis Club and nightly phone conversations. When my mom describes Louise; she first mentions her unyielding love of her family, her self-effacing nature & her mischievous sense of humour. Joyces relates how Louise was always an attentive listener but you shouldn't be fooled by her quiet ways. When you least expect it, Louise will fire out a zinger and have everyone in stitches. My mom also expected that Louise had taken over a family tradition of corny joke telling from Morley and would often end conversations with "Have you got time for another joke?". There are so many very fond memories of Louise, her character & values were admirable as she never had an unkind word to say about another and lived a truly kind life, always putting others before herself. Our family will never find the words to truly thank her for welcoming our mother into the Kiwanis community and making each trip a warm & fun experience. To the Family of My Friend Louis I became acquainted with Louise after her husband died when she attended a Widows Support Group I facilitated at Westview. Over the years I have been pleased to call Louise my friend. She was a kind, loving person so proud of her family and such a support to another widow, Marion.
