In her inaugural year at St. Jude in 2001, Mrs. Morrisey unquestionably made a lasting impact on my classmates and me. As an extracurricular project, she organized and led a team of seven students in a citywide model house competition. Mrs. and Mr. Morrisey spent countless hours outside of class time with our team to plan and construct an innovative model house. Throughout this project, Mrs. Morrisey imparted lessons that stay with me today-- what Stucco was (and how to make it with glue and rice!), how to build a house on an incline, and so importantly, what it means to commit yourself to a long-term project and stay perseverant. Truly resonant with her spirit, Mrs. Morrisey modeled for us what it means to be generous with your time, energy and skills. One Saturday morning, we all gathered at St. Jude to draft out our plans and try a few ideas. After a frustrating morning of imperfectly measuring angles and jaggedly cutting Styrofoam board, Mrs. Morrisey surprised us with homemade cupcakes and her favorite English chocolate, “Curly Wurlys". We romped around the school to blow off some steam, and laughed uncontrollably as we paged Mrs. Morrisey over the school's announcement system. Mrs. Morrisey, being the fun-loving teacher she was, joined in on the shenanigans and then re-focused us for a productive afternoon. Our model house went on to win first prize, an achievement entirely rooted in Mrs. Morrisey’s passion for teaching and her caring nature. Mrs. Morrisey, thank you for your kindness and encouragement during such a formative part of my life. I’ll always remember you (and I'll never forget the way you said, “eraser”. :) ) Mr. Morrisey, Jacob and Emma, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.

~ Sabrina Karim

Lisa was that special person that could brighten up any place or situation. She will be greatly missed by the Morrisey family, but I know that where Lisa is now , she will be happy knowing that Jacob and Emma have the greatest father in the world to take of them. God be with you.

We are all lost for words with the tragic loss of Lisa. We are very privlegded to have known Lisa. Lisa was a very kindhearted person and cared deeply for her family. We are deeply sorry for your loss. We have known Lisa and her family for the last 5 years and she always had a smile on her face. I had the opportunity to get to know Lisa better when our girls were in gymnastics and played soccer together the last couple of years. She was Makenzie's Sparks leader last year and always offered to drive Makenzie home and even sewed her badges on her sash for me. That's just one example of how nice of a person she was. I will truly miss seeing you every morning on our way to work dropping our kids off at the before school program but I am very grateful that I got to spend those times chatting with her. Our condolences go out to John, Jacob and Emma. Rest in Peace Lisa.

I hope that no one finds this disrespectful but I grew up with her in the states and I was very close to her and her family. Life put distance and time between us. I deduced to google her name a few months ago and was devestated to see this. I just can't help wondering what happened. If someone could please let me know my email is beckyeobrien@hotmail.com. we were family. I'm so sorry for all of you that she touched but it won't be surprising to know that someone she grew up with still thought of her.

~ Becky

It is October 2012 already. It has been such a long time since Mrs.Morrisey has passed. All the kids over at St.Judes still miss her with all their hearts. Though the time has passed, the place where I held her in my heart still has not healed. She still has a great influence on everyone. To most kids, she felt like just a teacher and friend- to me she is my all in all, my loving teacher, and most of all, the teacher who saw through my flaws inside to my personalitiy and helped me overcome all problems I kept cooped up inside my body. She never made me sad nor ignored me when I had a question or an answer. She is awesome still. .R.I.P.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this as I try to figure out why a beautiful, loving young woman was taken from us far too soon. My daughter Maddie had the privilege of having Lisa as her teacher this year. Every night after school Lisa and I would chat, and those conversations are what I now cherish. Her love of her family was inspiring, as was her love for her students. She was a champion for the children that needed extra, and it showed her compassion and kind heart. What I enjoyed most was her British sense of humour, and how I could possibly know what "Bubbles and Squeek" was = ) My daughter Maddie thought the world of her, and is struggling to figure out why her beloved Mrs. Morrisey has left us. Our thoughts, love and prayers are with John, Emma and Jacob now. Lisa some of the beautiful things you said to me will stay in my heart forever. Just know that I felt the same way about you. God Bless you, and all who loved you.

All I can say is thank you Mrs. Morrisey for making Arianna's switch into a new school a happy one. Leaving all your friends and coming into a new school community where you don't know anyone is always hard, but your kindness made it easy for her to transition. I'm heartbroken that in these short 6 months of the school year I should have chatted more. I will always treasure the school trips - It was truly a blessing to help with - the pizza party and bowling party at Fleetway. This song says it all. We will miss you. Praying always for your family. They have a strong support system between Jean Vanier and St. Judes. Each day I live I want to be A day to give The best of me I'm only one But not alone My finest day Is yet unknown I broke my heart Fought every gain To taste the sweet I face the pain I rise and fall Yet through it all This much remains I want one moment in time When I'm more than I thought I could be When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away And the answers are all up to me Give me one moment in time When I'm racing with destiny Then in that one moment of time I will feel I will feel eternity I've lived to be The very best I want it all No time for less I've laid the plans Now lay the chance Here in my hands Give me one moment in time When I'm more than I thought I could be When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away And the answers are all up to me Give me one moment in time When I'm racing with destiny Then in that one moment of time I will feel I will feel eternity You're a winner for a lifetime If you seize that one moment in time Make it shine Give me one moment in time When I'm more than I thought I could be When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away And the answers are all up to me Give me one moment in time When I'm racing with destiny Then in that one moment of time I will be I will be I will be free I will be I will be free
