Kenneth William Hodges
May 25, 2022
Ken passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 in his 75th year. He was the beloved husband of Bonnie (Smith) Hodges for 48 years; loving father to Tim Hodges (Kim Domoslai) and Ashley Bender (Ryan Bender); cherished Grandpapa to Katie and Ava Bender; devoted uncle to Michael Smith, Jennifer Smith, and Charlotte Verbeek; and dear brother to Clifford and Graham of Stevenage, England.
Ken was born in London, England. In 1969, he graduated with an Honour’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Surrey. After immigrating to Canada, he worked at Delcan for 42 years, eventually becoming Vice President.
Ken and his teams have worked on many of the major streets Londoners use everyday, including Commissioners Road, Horton Street, Bradley Avenue, and Oxford Street. He was project manager in designing several subdivisions. The work he did earned him the moniker “The Legend” at the City of London Engineering Department. In Chatham, Ken and the Delcan team are proud of their work building Chatham’s Lacroix Street Bridge. Ken was project manager on a large section of Highway 402. In 2000, he was made a fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering.
He was active in the community serving as Chairman of the London chapter of A.P.E.O in 1984-5; a program review team member at Fanshawe College; and served for several years with the Chamber of Commerce. Ken was an avid supporter of the Tottenham Hotspurs. In his retiring years he enjoyed taking guitar lessons.

Thinking of you in these difficult times and sending you love.
We are both devastated by the sudden passing away of our big brother Ken.He was always generous and helpful in many ways.We were always proud of his achievements educationally and in his career. His sense of humour was similar to ours, and we had many laughs together growing up in England.Ken was a good family man and very loyal. We shall miss our chats over the phone and online, but we will remember all the conversations we had over the years, and the great times we had when visiting each other in Canada and England. Glad you finally found peace Ken,you will always be in our hearts and minds, love Cliff and Graham
Our deepest condolences to the whole family. A death of a loved one is always difficult but a sudden death is more difficult. May your precious memories of the past bring you comfort in the days ahead. Ken was a great man with a heart of gold and will be missed by all who knew him. Anne & Daniel Gallant
So hard to pick where to start. First of all, thank you for being so accepting of me 19 years ago when I walked through the door as your daughters new boyfriend. I knew right away with your sense of humour and love of music that we were going to get along just fine. I’m going to miss all our talks so much…sports, music, world events, I always loved your perspective and your ability to somehow know a little about everything. I’m going to miss your laugh, and your smile. I’m going to miss how excited the girls would get when you pulled in the driveway. You’ve had more of an impact on my life than you ever knew. Thank you for raising such a kind, empathetic and loving daughter. I see bits of you in her everyday. Thank you for being such an amazing papa to our girls. Thank you for being at every one of their milestones, performances, concerts etc We’ve lost a genuine, kind soul that can never be replaced. I wish so bad we could have one more talk, but I know you are at peace, and you’ll be with us at every milestone and event in the future. We miss you
I was saddened to hear of your husbands passing. He was truly a special man and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers our with you and your family and may God comfort you. Please accept my condolences. Love and peace be with you, Rosemary and Rick
