Sending condolences and memories to the family. I went to Clara Brenton and Oakridge with the kids and would go to swim at the Leylands when Mom would go to visit Lou. Remebering Ken and all fondly at this time. Pam

Mr. Leyland was my teacher at Althouse College (1976-77). He took such pride in his mature student class. Hard work was rewarded with good marks. A "father hen" to all of us. We were there to embark on a teaching career. Many of us were nervous, unsure, and fearful of this new journey, but Mr. Leyland , with his kindness , assurance, knowledge, and his keen sense of humour, helped instill in us the confidence we needed to be successful. With his enormous effort and special care in showing his students the way in the education system, I was able to have a successful career in teaching. A few years ago, my dear friend Terry Brennan (whom I met in Mr. Leyland's class), along with my partner, Richard Lewis, spent the afternoon with Mr. Leyland reminiscing about the days we had together many, many years ago. He still had his wonderful sense of humour along with his pride in our accomplishments. We will remember him always and how much he shaped our lives. He will forever be in the hearts of his family, his many friends, and his appreciative students. Ken Leyland--a dear, sweet man, and a mentor to many.

No more playing ball, flying model airplanes, building our homes and later, still together, only having lunch. Now, after 75 years of enjoying your company, it is your time to rest. Rest in peace, Ken, my very dear friend. Thinking of you, Lou and your family at this time.

One could not have wished for a better Father in Law or Grandfather to Eric and Justin or to have known a funnier raconteur of jokes. He will be missed greatly.

I will always remember, very fondly, in 1967, the year Aunt Lou and Uncle Ken came to stay with us for a few weeks during Expo '67. What fun we had. Uncle Ken may be gone from us, but he will live on in all of our hearts. He will be missed. Our deepest sympathies to Aunt Lou and all of the family.

Ken taught me twice...once as a mechanics teacher at Saunders...and prior to that as my classroom instructor for driver's education when I was 16 (almost 30 years ago). I will always remember the first day of driver's ed when he stood before us and warned us about his diabetes and that if he drops to the floor while talking then we know what happened :) He also had lots of stories to tell about the auto mechanics trade, and the tricks he played on his co-workers. He made a positive influence in my life...thank you Ken. You will be missed.

I remember Ken as my teacher from Saunders Secondary school. We met in his POWDER PUFF auto mechanics class. We were a room full of young girls who had no idea what a spark plug was for and barely knew were to check for the oil. It was the best class I ever had, with a lot of laughs, and learning something at the same time.Looking back,Ken had a large amount of patience for our limited amount of skills.I even got an A in his class. That was 40 ago,and the fond memories of such a good person never left me. .......... My thoughts are with the whole family to hold on to their own fond memories. Jackie Dewan
