Katie Louise Ferguson (née Klahsen)

Katie went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the age of 96. Katie and her faithful husband, Kenneth, would have been married 71 years on March 15, 2023. Katie and Kenneth lived in Fox Hollow Retirement Residence since August 2020, until she peacefully died with Kenneth by her side. She was born in Chicago, and spent her childhood years in India as the daughter of missionary parents. Upon completing her degree at the University of Western Ontario, she was employed as a social worker with the Children’s Aid. After marrying Kenneth in 1952 and staying home to raise four children, Katie resumed her occupation as a social worker with the Department of Veterans Affairs until her retirement. Katie will be fondly remembered by four children: David (Jane) Ferguson, Carolyn (Richard) Egelton, Judy (Bill) Haldane and John (Lori) Ferguson. She was dearly loved by her children, thirteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Abraham Klahsen; her sister Hilda Klahsen; and her grandson Edward Ferguson. Her two surviving sisters, Dorothy Klahsen and Helen Lightbody, will miss their daily hymn sings with her. Although Katie will be greatly missed by her family, they rejoice in the fact that she is with her beloved saviour. “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:56-57). We welcome friends and family to come celebrate Katie’s life at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment will be held at Popular Hill Cemetery on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.
