Dr. Katharine Annesley Partridge

12 September 1945 – 5 March 2018

Kate died very peacefully at home in London, after a long illness, with her family at her side. She was the daughter of the late David and Tibs Partridge, the wife of Dr. Burkhard Spangenberg, mother to Birgit Jannsen (Hans-Joachim) and Anke Spangenberg (Dirk Polakowski) and grandmother to Mattis, Anna and Jördis Jannsen. Kate was also the sister of John Partridge (Molly Blyth) and the sister-in-law of August-Wilhelm Spangenberg (Ilse).

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, 11 March 2018 at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. At 1:00 p.m., friends may join the family in the chapel to listen to a recent recording of Johannes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, performed in London with Burkhard singing in the chorus.

For those who wish, donations may be made in Kate’s memory to London Health Sciences Foundation, designated to Ovarian Cancer Research, or Nature Conservancy Canada

Such sad news... I originally met Kate on a retreat and later attended one of her mindfulness stress reduction courses. From the first time we met, I was touched by Kate's openness and compassion. I know many of us appreciated and benefited from her steadfastness in offering her time and learning to us. Wishing her family and friends comfort at this time.

Kate your impact on me and on many others in this city has been remarkable. I am so glad that we had time to sit together during your last hospitalisation and talk about the gifts that you have shared with me. Your legacy will go on and on.

Kate made a significant impression upon my life. She shared her wit and wisdom in equal measure, generously. I am sad that she has left us too soon, but grateful for our friendship. What a great woman, one I will never forget. I am so sorry for your loss, Burkhard. Please take care.

Kate's afterlife will be what she has left behind, a profound spiritual legacy.

Kate was a fellow dharma wayfarer. Her own spiritual search opened an understanding which later helped many people. She was like a big tree offering the cool shade of goodwill and compassion to those who sought it via therapy and retreat. May the retreats she started continue snd flourish, as she wished. May we meet again, Kate and know each other as friends.I will miss you. My sincere condolences to those who loved her.

My heartfelt condolences to family/friends of Kate. I had the pleasure of having her as a practicum supervisor in the mid-90's, and to this day use much of the information acquired with my own patients, especially pertaining to stress management. Her legacy clearly goes on, in ways both obvious and more subtle. Offering thoughts and prayers in memory of her life.

~ Dr. Kelly Benn

Kate was a dedicated professional, always interested in trying to help someone. I had the privilege of attending a couple of her stress management workshops and benefited both personally and professionally from her insights. She had a great sense of humour and knew how to use it to bring a smile to people's faces. Her interests were genuine and her sincerity admirable. I'm sorry to learn of her passing too soon. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. May your memories be a comfort to you in the days ahead. RIP Kate - your work will live on for many years to come. Thank you.

Kate was definitely one of a kind. An independent thinker with a sense of humour. She was inquisitive and loved to understand other people. A generous and caring friend, she helped us achieve a measure of perspective. Kate was her own person right to the very end. We will miss her very much, and remember her with fondness and loving kindness. Laurie and Sandy

Kate's actions had a significant impact on my life; she organized the very first meditation retreat I ever attended back in 2004 as well as organizing many others I subsequently attended. Kate put considerable time and effort into organizing retreats, enabling so many people to benefit from meditative practices. I feel so fortunate that Kate's actions and presence touched my life and I was so very sorry to hear of Kate's death. Rest in peace dear Kate. My condolences to Kate's family and friends.
